The best food for your dog is raw... If you can't feed raw, then the next best thing is a really high quality grain free canned/wet food. If you can't/won't feed wet food, then the next best is a really high quality grain free food.
You can find grain free brands by doing a google search:
dog + food + grain free
Good luck.

Beneful wants you to think it's a good food, but it isn't. The top four ingredients of a dog food generally make up about 80-90% of the food. Beneful Healthy Weight's number one ingredient is corn. The second ingredient is chicken by-product meal. Chicken by-product meal is nasty stuff like heads, intestines, and feet. The only thing they can't use is feathers. Pretty disgusting stuff. You have to get down to the 7th ingredient on the list before you get real chicken meat.
This is not a really healthy food. You should look for a food where at least 2 of the top four ingredients are meat, real meat like "chicken" or "chicken meal" not "Chicken by-product meal" I recommend Wellness, Innova, or something similar. Look at the links below and compare the ingredients to what is in Beneful. They cost a bit more and are harder to find, but it is much better for the dog, and I think they're worth it.
As for the amount, if you get a weight management food, it should have directions on the package for how much to feed based on their weight, or what they should weigh, and whether you want to lose or maintain weight. Follow the directions, make sure the dog gets exercise, and she should start losing weight and getting healthier.

How much does the dog weigh? There will be feeding guidelines on the food packet - you need to feed the recommended daily amount for the weight you want the dog to be. The ideal weight for a breed can vary amongst individuals, but generally, standard dachshunds should weight arund 17lb. (is this a standard, mini or large dachshund we're talking about?)
I don't know about Beneful as a diet food, so you'll need to trial it to see if it's effective. The dog should have lost 2% of his current bodyweight after 2 weeks if this is a good diet food - and continue to lose 1% a week thereafter.
Here's a website with good pictures of ideal and overweight shapes for dachshunds:

Feel free to email me for further advice/support, I'm a vet nurse and I do weight clinics for animals. I feed my patients Hills r/d or Royal Canin Obesity diet.

It is NOT good that you have an over weight dachshund, are you sure its a food issue?I have a dog that's on thyroid medication, and has helped tremendously.I hope you get the weight down soon, due to the long spine, their small bodies can't support alot of weight!! Please!!I advise you get the dog checked by a veterinarian to make sure that no other health issues are present.I wish you well with this situation, good luck!

Beneful is good food, just feed less :) Have her feed 10% less each week until the dog reaches the target weight (couldn't give you a number without seeing him, but let him slim down until he has a waist and his belly is tucked up under him instead of bulging).
Feed his total daily amount in 2 or 3 meals so he doesn't feel as hungry, and he will also metabolize the food more efficiently. When you feed him, don't leave the food down all day, lay it down in 2 to 3 meals and pick it up again after 20 or 30 minutes. He will learn to appreciate his meals better, and you'll be able to keep better track of exactly how much he's eating.
Oh, and remember, NO extra treats and absolutely NO people food. If he needs a reward, give him a kibble or two of his regular food as cookies.

Beneful is a relatively good food. Use the directions on the bag as a guideline as to how much to feed. You will need to adjust this if you are not seeing results. There are also prescription diet foods available from the pet that are low-calorie and high fiber making them feel fuller without eating as much. The same health problems that affect us when we are overweight can also affect our pets. However, dachshunds because they carry a large portion of their weight on those long backs are at high risk of disk disease to begin with and this risk is increased by extra weight. Good for you for taking the steps to keep your dog healthy.

best thing for dogs is exercise, tell her to take her dog on walks and don't give it too many treats. Feeding directions are on the bag of dog food she has, only feed according to directions and how much the dog weighs. No people food makes them fat.
