Im buying a 1994 Mustang GT from a friend. It's suped up and has subwoofers. The owner is asking for 5,000. Is this too much? Would 4200 be more reasonable? gas mileage: 135,000

Also, how long do these cars last? 200,000 miles?

I would say this is far too much to pay for the car. Though it is suped up, that doesn't add much to resale value of a car. Also, when you begin to "supe up" a car, you put more stress on the engine, drivetrain, and ultimately the whole car. This might ultimately shorten the lifespan of the car, especially if your friend has done any racing or extra-hard driving in it. 135,000 miles is a lot already, and depending on the condition of the body and interior, you would be paying close to twice what that would sell in my area. Given, cost of living may be different there, etc. Check out www.kbb.com to see Kelley Blue Book's estimated value of the car. Click on used car value, select the year, make, and model, and then click on private party sales, because this is what it would be if the car was sold just between your friend and you. Fill in some questions about the condition of the body (dents, paint chips, etc.) and put in your zipcode and it will give you a very reasonable asking price for the car. As an added bit of advice, be careful doing business with friends, because deals like these may turn sour and wreck a great relationship. Hope you get a great deal!

First what you should do is take the mustang to a dealership or midas or any place that does inspections to vehicles and have them do a car check and they will tell you if anything is wrong or what is going bad and what needs to be replaced. If so then the price needs to be reagused because you never buy a car from a friend or anyone with out an inspection being done. There is a chance of something going wrong after you buy it and if it has a 50/50 warrenty on it from the dealer they pay half and you pay half and no one can afford to pay half the cost of a transmission or an engine for a new car. Be careful when buying a vehicle.

i would have to say its a pretty desent price if its suped up with a sound system in it depending on how big the subs are and what else he all has done with the engine im talking like new headers, or super charged even more im not sure if a 94 is charged stock or not. but i think its not too bad but the only bad thing is the milage they do last a while i mean come on its a ford product if you treat her right shell last a life time.
