It's totally free, and it's very good, and it's very comprehensive, and it's very worthwhile, and you'll be glad you have it. Can't recommend it highly enough. But...
Note that this is a LARGE piece of software, so that, if you're on a slow connection, you *may* want to consider buying a CD from e.g. Amazon (about $14 which is for shipping) and they also offer a two-inch-thick training manual.

Yep I use openoffice
it is a bit buggy sometimes but as a free legal replacement to word it is great
lets you save as word docs as well so there is no problem bringing it to another computer.
