Because they are fake. They want you to think they are this macho man, but in reality, they are this 40 year old scrawny man. They are afraid of the riducule and possibly jail time for pretending to be a 16 year old lover. My advice: stay away. you never know who actually is behind the screen.

Sweety,
People you meet on chat only show you the best side of them. And you only show them the best side of you. You have a chance to think about what you say. You can stop those immediate, knee-jerk reactions from happening online.

Chances are, that these people were not right for you from the beginning. Perhaps, there was a part of you that you weren't showing them and it couldn't be avoided once they met you. So now they feel disheartened because you are not the person they thought you were.

Try meeting people another way. Get out of the house, and find a hobby that you like doing. Join a professional organization, visit your local library, or take classes at your local community college. These are great ways of meeting people.

If you're looking for romance online, what do you expect?
You're communicating with someone you know nothing about,
except what they tell you. This person is totally anonymous
and can say anything they like about themselves. Try the old
fashion way of dateing, meet someone in the flesh, get to know them, let them get to know you. Use patience and com-
passion. Take you're time. Date-ing and romance shouldn't
be like going through a McDonald's Drive thru. If that IS what
you want, then you shouldn't expect your romance to last longer than it takes to eat your Happy Meal.

People tend to build up the person they are chatting with and when they meet the person they are usually disappointed. It is perhaps a mutual thing or perhaps some people give misleading information.

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that you don't stop talking long enough for another person to say anything.

I know that's how you talk, because that is how you write.

We'll all come across jokers once in a while. Don't let them get to you, there are many more fish in the sea.
