So here's the thing...Toys R Us hired me on May 29... and today is June 17 and I haven't worked a single day yet. Heck, I haven't even been trained yet. After they do get me trained, it will officially have been a month since they hired me to actually get me on the job. They always say they'll call me and they never do. Once I was helping my bf do some yard work and they called me (the only time they ever did call me) to come in for orientation. I stop what I was doing, drove home (which is 30 minutes away), took a shower and got cleaned up, drove to Toys R Us (which is 10 minutes away), signed papers for 15 minutes, and then went home... So much for "orientation". They say they need me really bad... but they're not doing anything.
Anyway, my old job offered me a good deal yesterday and I decided to take it... I will start working at the end of this week. So I need to quit Toys R Us... but the thing is I haven't even worked there yet and I don't know what I am supposed to do. Help me!

Screw Toys R Us. They're screwing you. Write them a letter or send them a postcard saying you quit. They're morons. I mean just contacting them is more than they've done for you. I wouldn't worry about them at all. Seriously. Good luck with your new BETTER job.

Write a letter of resignation so you will have proof that you quit (it will be a lot harder for them to pretend that you were fired instead of you leaving voluntarily). If they want to know why you are leaving, just tell them that you aren't getting enough hours (which certainly sounds true), and that you found a better opportunity. It's kind of weird for a business to hire someone and then not bother giving them any shifts, so they obviously don't need people that badly, and it is a perfectly legitimate reason to leave a job.

I say take the offer and just tell Toy r us that it is not working out and you have received a better offer that allows you to work now, and you will be taking that offer as you ned to work now. Put in in writing and give it to them.

Just call them up and tell them you won't be working there after all. I suggest telling them that you've been ready to work for a month and they haven't gotten their act together and they lost a potentially great employee!

Take your new job and tell Toys R Us they did not provide you with enough hours for you to stay there.

Just politely explain that you dont think that this job is for you (and you cant state what you described in the question as reasons if you want--but not necessary)...dont burn any bridges...

Good luck
