By no means do I have a religion; I have my own beliefs, yet they are not set in stone (open minded). I was just wondering if my beliefs were more Atheist or Agnostic.
I base my beliefs on science (factual and theoretical). I do not believe in this so called "God," but I do believe that SOMETHING started the universe (as well as possible parallel universe, etc.) billions of years ago (or more). I call whatever started this 'god', only because I have no other term. It may have been a tiny piece of matter, who knows. NO ONE KNOWS.
I believe in opposites. Eg. Without good there is no bad, and vise versa. I believe everything equals out. I do not worship any entity. And yet, I disbelieve in any gods or anything related only 99.9%, as opposed to 100%.
I need evidence that something exists, but I need evidence that something doesn't exist as well.
I can't sit here and say that there is NO god. However, I can say that any god whom anyone on earth may BELIEVE IN does not exist.

I don't necessarily believe that an external force created everything. It could have been an internal force... or perhaps nothing at all.

I also don't believe that ANYTHING is supernatural. So, if something DID start the universe (and whatever else), it CAN be proven scientifically. Not today; maybe never. However, given the right questions, resources, and knowledge, I believe everything can be proven or disproven. Please someone give me a link to possioble disprove me wrong. Like I said, I'm NOT SET IN STONE.

Ali - There is no proof that that certain person 1400 years ago believed that those 11 planets were the supposed 11 planets that we have today (isn't there an ongoing debate on how many planets we have?!). Do you think that this person may have seen an asteriod or other large entity and mistaken any of these 11 things as planets????
Unless you have a Ph.D in the solar sciences...
ENOUGH SAID.

I think we all make our own boxes, my friend. But by my definition, you're an atheist. I think the term "agnostic" is a cop out. It's just a more socially palatable word for atheist. All an atheist is is someone who doesn't believe in a god or gods. It doesn't mean you can't be spiritual. And it doesn't mean that you're somehow required to be absolutely certain the universe wasn't created by an intelligence. It just means you haven't been given a compelling reason to buy into a religion.
I can't sit here and say absolutely there is no god, either. But I can say that I have never seen any evidence to make me BELIEVE that there is one. That makes me an atheist. And I could apply that same argument to aliens, fairies, poltergeists or whatever.

ok ... so there are people who think God doesn't exist.
There was a time in the past where people wondered: what is that higher power that created EXISTENCE? (kinda like the situation you're having now)
That was before the prophets came to notify the people that there is GOD and that he exists. Naturally, there were people who would say that they may be simply lying or talking nonsense. That is why each of them came with a MIRACLE, and so they believed.
If you still have doubts, there are theories in SCIENCE (which you believe in) being discovered nowadays that have already been mentioned more than a thousand years ago. For example, the planets in the solar system were thought to be only nine planets. Only recently, two more planets were discovered in our solar system, making them eleven planets.
It was mentioned in the Holy Quran (one of the holy books that came down from the sky), more than 1400 years ago, that they were eleven planets! and there are many more theories were that came from. (You can check that out quite easily, i believe)
So answer me if you will...who possibly might have already known this more than 1400 years ago?
Enough said...

There is a common misconseption about atheism, that is that an atheist is a person who does not follow a religion. This is not true an athiest is a person who rejects the thesis of god, that is to say a God or gods do not exsist. However a person who belives what you suggest in your first paragraph is known as an Agnostic. Agnostics claim either that it is not possible to have absolute or certain knowledge of God or gods.
Certainly not Diesm which does suggest a God exsits, however does not follow a strict religious code i.e rejects main religions. A deist belives in God, an agnoist is not sure, and atheist does not belive in god.

You sound more like a strong atheist then agnostic. I would recommend reading "The GOD Delusion" by Richard Dawkins. This book would be right up your alley. I'm a scientist and an atheist and quite proud of it.
Rationality and intellectualism are two characteristics that drive people away from believing in the existence of a super intelligence, omniscient God. Religiousness and intelligence are negatively correlated. Enough said! Hope this helps!

Actually we're down to 8 planets now. But as for the existence of God, you're not going to find Him unless you seek. The hangup is never really evidential - it's the issue of sin.
"Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon." Is 55:6,7
As for evidence, read through the Bible and see if it is convincing to you. I've heard from so many "atheists" and the like who never thoroughly investigate or comprehensively read and end up discarding the Bible off hand.
Yes, you need evidence. The question is whether you're willing to go and get it.

Sounds like weak deist to me.
Why do you assume the the universe needed 'something' to 'start' it? That's a very anthropocentric view, and must be the consequence of living in a world were everything you see seems to have been 'started'. But what about virtual particles? Or individual fission decays?
Examine the Schrodinger's Cat paradox. The basic substrate of the universe of driven by probability, not hard-edged cause-effect interactions. Given enough time, the same could happen to the entire universe - and it probably did.

How about "spiritual atheist"? Most atheists, if not all, believe the idea of god is absurd, that is, whatever created the universe - that came from a natural force or condition - no supernatural needed or necessary. That doesn't make them right, however because, like you said, no one knows.
* okay, now that I've read your further edits, I'd definitely classify you as an atheist. Plain and simple. A very sensible atheist, at that.

my best guess is you're agnostic, because an agnostic doesn't dispute the existence of God, they just don't know for sure. if your beliefs include Loving your neighbor as yourself, then you're halfway to being a believer in God, because that is one of his commandments that sum up the essence of belief. if you acknowledge that there is a greater power that set the heavens in motion and created all things, you're 3/4 ths there. all that's left is the leap of faith that acknowledges Jesus as the son of God, and you're all the way there. if you can't make that leap, don't worry, but don't stop searching for the answers, either. hang in there. here's a thought-science is the "how" God did it, belief is the "why".

If you don't know then you are not an Atheist. You sound like one of those damn fence straddling Agnostics to me just a coward hanging there without having the guts to come down on either side. This Atheist has more respect for a Christian.
