Why would he spend fathers day with his girlfriend and not his own son?

He says he doesn't care about days like this. He didn't even spend mothers day with is own mother he just spent it with his girlfriend. I don't understand. To me that is so wrong. It's like he has no respect for anyone. All he thinks about is himself. Why?

he is just following his other head to greener pastures, and doesn't care, so just sit back and wait till his girlfriend drops him like a hot potato , and he comes running back,,,,,
