Because Christians that aren't Catholic, are Protestant. THey protest against the Church after being misled by preachers that twist doctrine. They were misled in history class discerning the events after Jesus died and is risen. Peter was the first Pope and apostolic succession is very important. Catholics persacuted heretics proclaiming false gospel messages, they just happened to be protestants. The bible most prostestants read is a poorly translated version, the KJV consulted the Douey-Rheims among others to come up with a new version that suited their needs, and spoke out against what the Catholic church had taught for some 1500 years.
They hate Catholics because their teachings are not from the Lord, jealousy runs through their veins.

Some Christians may go overboard in their messages, but for the most part, most try to be reasonable. And some here seeing the perceived "vitriolic" messages might mistake zeal for hatred.
True Christians love Catholics and try to counter the erroneous teachings of the Roman Catholic Church in this forum with Scripture in context, showing where some of the doctrines and teachings of the Catholic Church are actually diametrically opposed to Scripture. Their methods may not be the best, and if perceived as hateful, true Christians need to contact these people and inform them of their error.
As the apostle Paul stated;
Galatians 6:1
1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

Christians don't HATE Catholics (some may, and they're stupid). BUT the reason Christians kind of look down on Catholicism is because Catholics take more or less an "easy way out" when it comes to God. Catholics SAY that they believe in God but when was the last time you met a catholic who saw something seriously wrong with premarital sex, pornography, masturbation, drinking, swearing, lusting, etc? These are things that are seriously looked down upon in the Bible. And for that matter, when was the last time you met a Catholic who actually READS the Bible???
Catholicism does not take God seriously, but just set up by the people as a religion where people can say they believe in Jesus yet live their lives however the hell they want.
Catholicism to Catholics is simly a RELIGION. A label. Christianity is a relationship with Jesus Christ, the one and ONLY God. (no, the Virgin Mary is not a god).

A real Christian can't willfully hate anybody. You are right that such would be hypocrisy or at least a damaging delusion. The antiCatholics claim that they don't hate us as people but just everything we do or say,but my experience is that they really do hate people who dissent from them. Hating in the name of God is even a bigger scandal and sin than hating openly out of one's ego.
Some antiCatholics ,on the other hand ,have never known how to avail themselves of real information about Catholicism and Catholics,but with the Net theynow have no excuse.
If most Fundamentalists and some other Protestants knew their history and theology better they would know that they share the basics with Catholicism and would recognize us as older siblings in the Family of Jesus.
Of course, there are alsoCatholics who cultivate all sorts of misconceptions about Non Catholic people and movements,but they are acting contrary to the directives of our recent popes.

I am a Christian who doesn't hate Catholics. What I can be instanly annoyed by are those Roman Catholics who think that they are "OFFICIAL" Christians and better than other Christians. And there are plenty of those!
Otherwise I recognize the Roman Catholic church as being misguided and terrible at misleading their people to worship saints, Mary, and the idols that frequent their carnal traditions. They can be that way any time they want, but I will never despise them, but rather their teachers and tradtions. Kinda like what Jesus said about the Pharisees with few exceptions ( especially Nicodemus).

Protestants and Catholics? That has been going on for centuries. Maybe with the Muslims acting up so badly, the Christians will unite all denominations and we can have another Holy War. Heck, we only have 4 or 5 small ones at the moment. We need a Big one!

Hatred is of the false doctrine,not the person.Some New Agers love Jesus,but it is not the Jesus Christ of Scripture or the Gospel.It is "another gospel" as warned about in God's Word.
