HI.
Keep in mind, that I'm an outsider looking in so this is just an opinion.
Its up to you to decide if you can forgive him, he may not have been an image of what a father was suppose to be like, but he was still your father. He cared to some level about his kids and this father day would probably mean alot to him if his kids let him know they care and are willing to forgive him. If you haven't spoken to your father in awhile i believe he probably really hurt you and maybe he deserves the treatment, only just how long do you plan on ignoring him remember his getting older by the years and deaths is a anpredictable event it can happen anytime for any reason so before he goes don't let him go without letting him know how you feel and giving him a second chance, after all his only human.
sorry for lenghty answer, and happy fathers day.

It's up to you, after all if you do text him you will know that you acted right, that you are a good son or daughter despite the fact of his coldness. I think you should, because him being a bad father does not mean you have to be the same kind of person.

well that is something we have in common cause l dont talk to my dad either and have not for about 5 yrs. u know we dont pick and choose who our parents r going to be. but as u r a grown up then u can decide wether ur dad should be a part of ur life. for me it was simple cause l have found it is better to just let him go and move on. my dad was no dad to me at all so why should he have the privelage of being part of my life now , and when l have to 2 kids as well. u know it is a tough call and people can always give advice and maybe that will better help u in some ways on making ur decision as to what u should do. for me my father is very stubborn and has done no wrong to his kids even though he beat our *** alot and bad as well as hit my mother and something he will never admit to as doing anything wrong, so for me to have closer as well as my sister who we r both in law enforcement have cut him out of our life so we can move on. so my answer is no he does not deserve anything but again u utametly have to make that choice on ur own and it is not easy babe. but just to let u know l am so much more happier now that l have dealt with it in my own way and moved on and not allowing it to take control of me. good luck and l hope whatever u choose works out for u and gives u a piece of mind.

He is still your Father. The text saying that you love him may turn him around. Try it if you don't you will never know the answer.

Yes for sure. Just because he doesn't act like a father, you don't have to put yourself in the same class.
He is still a father for good or bad.

A text message might be nice, but it's up to you.

Does he deserve it, NO!! However if you want to then you should by all means. It will show who the better person is, YOU.
