when we first got her she was happy and energetic.
but now she is just laying down and sleeping all the time.
we noticed that she got happy when there was another puppy around.
we've considered getting another puppy but there is not enough room for us to get her another dog.
and we can't have the other puppy coming every single day.
what can we do to have her as happy as she was when she first came??
but also is there even anything wrong or am i just overeacting???

I would get her to the vets on Monday and have her checked.
in teh menatime just leave her and don't stress her. i wouldn't let teh other puppy come over until you make sure there is nothing wrong with her

Puppies do sleep alot. However if she seems like she is sleeping for more then a few hours at a time and isn't really playfull I'd have her examined by a vet just to be sure that there aren't any underlying health problems that may be causing it. It never hurts to get an opinion from a vet even if you just call to ask some advice. Secondly until you get it confirmed by the vet that everything is OK I'd keep the other puppy away. There are certain illnesses that can be past on to the other puppy. Good luck

As you said she seems to cheer up when there is another puppy about I'd guess she might be bored. How often do you walk her? And how much attention does she get. I agree with the person who said not to bring another dog in until you have made she she isn't poorly though. If there is something wrong you don't want to run the risk of passing it on. I doubt she has worms. That doesn't make a dog tired or listless and she'd probably be dragging her bottom along the floor if that was the case. Best idea is to give your vet a call to be on the safe side. Good luck!

It is normal for dogs to mellow out as they age. It is also normal for them to get into their family's rhythm. When you first got her, she would have been used to cavorting with her littermates all day. If you are gone most of the day during the week, she will naturally have gotten into the habit of sleeping through the day.
Some dogs get more hyper and impossible to live with when there isn't enough action for them. Be grateful that she is choosing to enjoy the downtime!
If she is happy just laying around, but happily joins in whenever you want to play with her or go out, there is nothing to worry about. If activities that used to get her going don't seem to interest her anymore, or if she prefers to stay in rather than go for a walk, she might indeed be sick.
Any _dramatic_ change in behaviour warrants a veterinary examination. If she went from happy and energetic to quiet and mellow in just a few day, off to the vet, pronto!

Give her time to settle in, it can take many weeks or even months before a dog feels comfortable in there home so be very patient.Don't rush out to get another pup for the sake of your pup, as this might make matters worse and if you haven't got the room anyway it's not an option.Keep interacting with her but be very gentle, dont play rough or boistrous games with her.Don't let people overcrowd her either as this can be very daunting for a puppy.Just take your time with her and be very patient.Good luck.

try getting some activities going to get her active. Sounds like she may be bored or a little depressed. Take her for walks, to the dog park, get some fun games going like fetch. You dont have to arrange play dates every day, several times, or even just once a week is good. You can change the activity every day so she never knows what is going to happen, but knows she has something to look forward to.

Don't forget it can take time for any pet to get used to new surroundings.
First thin to do is get her checked at the vet to make sure there is no underlying problems so it rules that out.
If there is nothing wrong then she may jus b taking time to ajust.

My Dog Doodles Did the same thing. I think Getting a nother dog will help, thats what we did and he is especially acting youthful. If you cant get another one, foster, then she will get to meet new dogs every so often. And you wont have to worry about vet bills and such. There isnt anything wrong with her, she is just bored. THinks it is time to turn in. SO foster or get another dog. it should help.

She could just be lonely. Are you giving her enough attention? She might just be sad because no one is playing with her, try buying her some new toys and spending some time playing with her.
If she doesnt cheer up you should take her to the vet, just incase something is wrong.

she is 4 months, you have had her a week!!
you dont know what her normal behaviur is, wait a while and see how you all get on together. i would think it is better to have a calm relaxed dog anyway rather than a hypo one.
