It doesn't effect us at all.
I see wallabies and Kangaroos everyday - which is sweet, all part of being an Aussie, but not nice when yo see them as 'road-kill'.

Where I live I have seen 2 snakes in 4 years, OK they were really huge, but not in 'suburbia' area.....
Living in the tropics you have to watch out for jellyfish in the season, but there nets to swim in during this time....

Look ............... to be perfectly honest you got more chance of being hit by a car that effected by a poisonous animal in any way shape or form !

Australian animals are venomous rather than poisonous. There are some poisonous fish that you should not eat and you should certainly not eat some tropical reef fish at certain times of the year because of ciguetera toxin. Of those creatures that sting or bite, most will not bother you unless you bother them. This certainly applies to all the snakes and most of the spiders and venomous sea creatures. jellyfish do not attack you but they don't get out of the way either so you shouldn't swim in tropical waters during the wet season.

Most Australians never see a venomous creature in the wild apart from the occasional redback spider.
