My son turns 11 in August. He is 10 now. Is he too young to mow the lawn? What age should he be?

As long as he can push it let him do it.

I would say he should be old enough to mow the lawn. You should be there to supervise him for a while to ensure that he understands what to do. You should also go over the safety precautions about not putting gas in the mower while it is hot and being very careful about where his feet and hand are when the mower is running and to make sure the lawn is clear of debris before mowing.

I think 11 is a good age. I think that is about when my brother started to mow the lawn. If he isn't quite ready, next year would probably be good. I would say for the first year or two, have him mow only half the lawn, especially if it is hot where you live.

depends. Is it a push mower? or would he have to ride it. I say a push mower would be around age 12, 13 is a better choice but by 14 he should definitely be at least using a push mower. I'm a girl and i've been using a push mower since i was 13. Riding the lawn mower he should be at least 15 or older, there are many injuries of children from lawn mowers (my mom works in a hospital, she would know)

First time I let my son mow he was 12 I put him on a zero turn Dixon mower ($2700) and let him go at it! Other than running over the cat and making my yard look like crap he did a great job,,,, and I didnt even know you could pop wheelies on a mower but,,,,,, you can!!!!!!!

Explain to him the rules and how to be safe. I would watch him at first until you both are comfortable. My ten year old mows for me on occasion and he does fine.

As long as he's old enough to see over the top of it he should be good. You should probably watch him the first few times.
