I'd like to spend between $150 and $300, probably on Ebay. Looking for a very reputable mark like Luxman, Marantz, etc. My speaker system consists of two oldish Bose speakers and a JBL subwoofer. Thanks!

I would go to http://www.audiogon.com

As stated above, this is my FAVORITE site. Yes...I'm one of the 'audiophiles'. That's why my stereo cost more than my Cadillac.

Anyway....try looking into the following equipment....

NAD 3150 (50 watt integrate, but do NOT be fooled by the rating)
NAD 3020 (20 watt integrate, same as above)
Adcom - GFA 535, 545, 555 (fantastic, affordable, high current amps)

But your best bet for a around $400 (I know it's a bit higher than you are looking to spend) would be look into Bryston 2B (60 watts) or 3B (100 watts). Not the NRB, ST or SST. Just the plain 2B or 3B.

Even if they are older amps...do not worry...they have a 20 year transferable warranty on them and Bryston is FANTASTIC should you need the service.

Enjoy your system and good luck finding an amp that you LOVE.

Chack out www.audiogon.com. This is a hi-end audio trading site. I have been using it for years (and most of my friends are too), and never been scammed. This site is for "crazy audiophiles".
Right not there are 2 luxman aps for sale - under $250. And a whole bunch of Marantz gear.
I also suggest to check out some other "value" hi-end brands - NAD, Rega, Creek, Music Hall, Rotel, Arcam, Adcom.

a query on your browser will pull up tonnage of stereo or audiophile assessment sites, DIY sites, fanatic discussion communities, etc. Any good bookshop could have numerous as much as the minute assessment magazines. bear in mind that AV systems, (surprisingly much all of them) could be run as stereo systems , with the wattage, so on, of the receiver directed at 2, quite of unfold over 5 or greater channels. So theater sound assessment sites are no longer unavoidably off of your record, and might help teach you in fundamentals, besides as depart you cognizant of what's contemporary in the industry.

also, check out onkyo products. The bose stores sell these recievers with their speakers. Very high quality product. I sold them at circuit city, but its the only reciever that I think bose sounds good with (for the record I don't like bose, even with an onkyo reciever)
