That depends on the paint and on the wallpaper. Sometimes it looks good. Sometimes the paint won't stick or the pattern on the wallpaper shows through. Sometimes the paint makes the paper peel off.
You can usually get sample pots of paint - try it and see how it looks.

It works ok, and sometimes actually looks really good- for instance, in my last flat I had this embossed stripey blue and cream paper which looked awful; I painted over it and it looked really good because the embossed pattern was till visible, but looked much better in one matt colour.
If you're painting over say a washproof vinyl, you may well need two coats, as the vinyl can be a bit hard to cover.
But yes- it works.

It looks ok if the paper is in good condition and not a raised type. But usually it absorbs all the paint and starts to peel off at the edges and looks awful over time.

Can be OK but it will depend on the wallpapering job that we originally done.
Painting over wall paper you will be more aware of the joins and any air bubbles.
It is definitely not a good idea if the paper is already peeling.

In my experience it is fine to do but you will need to do the prep work. If the joints in the paper have separated you will need to fill them with Spackle or sheet rock mud. Sand the joints smooth, you may have to apply the "mud", and sand more than once depending on how bad the crack. Next you need to prime with kilz. I recommend oil base kilz, It has a bad odor but will stick to the paper. The kilz will stick to the paper as latex paint will not. If you do not prime with kilz the paint will "scratch" off and tape will also pull it off. After you kilz it, lightly sand the entire wall looking for imperfections in the prep work. If all looks good, apply your finish paint. I recomend latex mainly because it is so easy to clean also there is litle odor.

It can be very successful, depending on how well the paper has been laid and the surface texture. Your best bet is to try a small area before going ahead, but make sure there are good joins!

i dont think it works very well at all. my sons room was painted and he had wall paper in there and the stupid paint is peeling off the wall in huge patches. if the wall is preped properly then it might work. go to a local paint store and ask them what you need to do first so the paint will stick
