Your question really isn't clear as to if it is you (or your husband) that is actually in the Navy.

But what happens is this: whoever is in the Navy (and is up for duty assignment) may get to fill out a dream sheet of up to three choices for duty.

So then the sailor looks over those three choices, and puts them in order of best to worst.

Then the Dept. of the Navy completely ignores that, and sends the sailor to wherever s/he is needed, which may be a place on that list, or it could be a completely different place.

Most people end up in Norfolk, San Diego, or Hawaii. But there are lots of other, smaller choices.

The most important thing to do is right after you find out where the sailor is to be stationed, put in a request for base housing. These are hard to come by, and the wait list might be up to 6 months.

Here is an update for you. You will have like two choices. You will be told what your choices are and that is about it. Until you have completed your first enlistment you really have little say in where you are going to go. The Navy has very few bases to choose from in the first placw and it sounds like you are a booter so you will be choosing a ship not a base. Norfolk, VA will probably be where you end up or you could get San Diego, CA.

You can go to www.afcrossroads.com They have a list of all bases with all information you need about them (like housing, schooling, sites, everything.)

You will have to register and then they check with DEERS, then you'll be able to log in. It's only military people (and their dependents) on there.

Good luck to you!

won't matter. he will belimited as to where he can go based pn rating and paygrade. wait until he gets the list to choose from, and decide from there. won't do you any good to have your heart set on Hawai'i, but when it comes time to pick orders, he can only choose from Norfolk and Japan.
