Viper makes great products. Make sure that you have the alarm and remote start professionally installed. Actually, D.E.I., the makers of Viper, prohibit over the counter sales of their alarms. They must be installed at the store that sells them. I have personally installed hundreds of their alarms with remote start. I have never had a single problem with one of them starting for no reason like the other reviewer stated. Installed on the car is a hood switch that detects that the hood is open, preventing the car from being remotely started. So even if he was working under the hood, their is no way that the car could have started. There are many other safety and alarm features that make the Viper product the best.

I've installed several hundred of them, and have had one in my car for over 5 years, and another in my Jeep for 2 years, with no problems. They do need to be installed correctly.

"Valet" mode does not turn off a remote start. It just turns off alarm features. A properly installed remote start (of any brand) should include a hood switch so that the remote start is disabled when the hood is open, as well as a manual kill switch so that it can be disabled any time it would be unsafe to use.

Viper remote starts are not designed for manual transmissions. If a car starts moving when a remote start is engaged, then the remote starter is not installed correctly, or shouldn't have been installed in that vehicle at all.

You can't blame a product for a shoddy installation. When they're professionally and competently installed, they're both safe and reliable.
