Yes, and I lived in it. Can you imagine a world where the TV had only 5 channels, not to mention no remotes for anything. You actually had to get off your butt to change the thing. On a dial no less. And it was black and white. I don't know if anyone else still uses them, but I can actually find information FASTER by using books, than by computer. I'm only 41.

Imagining is easy, for there were no computers for the first half of my life. Things were slower, but I could do most of the math myself and was kind of used to memorizing a lot. Now no numerical skills, need bookmarked references and my hand aches if I write half a page. But then I am not complaining, cant live without them!

Yes. I lived in it from 1929 until the 1950's. Seems like we got along pretty well without computers. That's not to say that computers don't have their technological pluses. But there was a world before computers.

I remember it, practically. When I was in high school, c.1974, there were no "personal" computers of any kind. In that same year, our school got ahold of our first computer, a "Monroe 1665", with 256 bytes of RAM, input via octal-coded punch cards, output via 2" cash register paper, numbers only. I took that class, my claim to fame was a program for tic-tac-toe on it, tho there was only enough RAM to make it such that the computer had to take the first move, which, to make it slightly more interesting, was a corner move rather than the center. And of course, it never lost.
There were no calculators; trig was done via lookup tables in the appendix. Same for square roots, etc. There was of course, not much of anything "digital" - no internet, no digital music or pictures. And I had to walk 6 miles to school in the snow, uphill both ways.....
Jeez, I've turned into my dad..........=8*)

Yes I can, and it took 3 to 4 times the number of engineers to get the same amount of work done as we do now with computers.
We used slide rules to do our calculations when I was in college, then the pocket calculators were invented and they saved us time and were more accurate. Then the personal computers came along, and it just makes me wonder what the next step will be.
Maybe after the the next big invention, there will be only one engineer required to solve all of our problems and design all of our "stuff."
