A woman at my job was trying to decide whether or not to accept another job offer at a different location than where we currently work. It offered double the pay almost and was in a nicer neighborhood, but she has some friends that she was hesitant to leave behind. She said that she would pray to God and he will deliver the anwer to her.

Why couldn't she merely sit down and decide what to do for herself? Does not excercising the free will given to you by whatever power you choose to worship kinda negate the fact that you have said free will?

praying for help while you are actually acomplishing a task is different then asking God to point left or right for you.

People pray for different reasons. A lot of people ask for God's GUIDANCE in their decisions. Sometimes, in situations like this, the opportunity might SEEM "great", but there are fears that go with these final decisions. Giving up yor current life CAN be scary. Even tho you may be moving on to BETTER things, there's still always that chance of regret or unhappiness later down the road.

Many people rely on God's grace and praying is the outlet they choose. It IS the "free will" that gives you the right to exercise the bounty of prayer!

If you go by reasoning, her prayer helps her to concentrate on the options and she gets the answer or probably she is now convinced after the prayer about her own decision.Sometimes it is her intution that suggests the answer. If you go by faith, it is a harmless habit. Every decision precedes God's blessing - that is how she believes.
Think about difficult decisions. This logic may not work. Prayer or concentration or looking inward, meditations etc. do help - whether you direct them to your personal god or some power greater than you.

The Bible says to pray on all things. To never be burdened alone. You're supposed to take it to your heavenly father and let him show you the way.
I promise you this works.I have never prayed about something that God has ignored.Even if it's not the answer you wanted...
You know if we had all listened to our Fathers we may have been better for it.
And God has no hidden agenda as many of our friends would have.
Don't be such a disbeliever..Try it...It brings a great deal of peace to your world..

I was raised by this logic and quite frankly I don't think that it's a bad idea to pray for wisdom in the decisions you make. But to leave every decision up to a Higher Power without being pro-active in your own life is kind of foolish. God gave us brains for a reason and if you aren't willing to take control of your life and it's path, then it sorta is telling God "you make the decision that way if it doesn't work out I can blame you and not myself".......right?

It helps in ways you can not imagine. God may have something better in mind for this person and He knows that if she stays she will get a better position and be in the place He wants her to be.

Prayer is a direct channel to God. Try it sometime and ask for what for you what in Jesus' name and believe that you will receive it and you will.

Prayer is the best form of free will.

Yes, we do have free will. Which means that we have the free will to use our free will - if that makes sense. In essence, people tend to pray for guidance.

A simple solution for you may not be so simple for others. We all handle things differently, because we all think differently.

Mostly because Christians are too weak to act on their own without 'permission' from their god. They figure if they pray, it's like asking permission, and then it's ok.

Some people are just not confident about themselves so they love to pray about it and see what happens.

In that instance, she is making the decision herself, but she's validating it by telling herself that her own voice is God.

Like a far more benign version of this:
