"Fear does not exist in any object or situation. It is constructed by you alone, a barrier to progress, imposed solely by your mind.” ~Michael Colgan
Fear is very real and exists in one form or another in all of us. Everything is possible, if not inevitable. Why fear it? There will always be people like you, people opposite of you, people who love you, people who hate you, things broken, things put back together, people coming into your life, and people leaving. One has to question why fear exists when you can't prevent everything from happening, but instead make things worse for yourself until it does. It's like fear is a time bomb, eating you away until what you fear happens and then you'll be eaten away with thoughts on why you didn't listen to that fear, even though that fear held you back all along.

Yes. Fear exists not just in the body but, also out of body. I've experienced fear a couple of times during an out of body. Love created us then fear trapped us within our creation. Religion is the search for freedom from this creation. Religion put us on the right track but, it took a mortal turn. We now know that what we seek we find within. Even Jesus taught this. Fear is a process, not a thing. As such it exists within the neural pathways of an individual. That process may also effect the various means by which we interact with our world: we may sweat, shake, scream, or display certain signs that, to those creatures able to interpret them, indicate that we're afraid.

Sort of.
It needs a brain where it can exist. Like pain, colors, meaning, religious fervor, etc.
