Sorry if this sounds a little funny. I had my dog neutered on Thursday and I can see the loose skin where it all was- but when he gets excited I notice he has a bump on either side of him privates- it almost looks likes he still has his testicles- they're just higher.

Is this normal? Sorry if it's a little TMI.

Yes I do have better things to do- but when I rub his tummy it's right there and I PAID to get him neutered and want to be sure he 100% is and won't be impregnating female dogs int he neighborhood anytime soon.

Sorry if this pushed the community guidelines- it was more from a medical perspective.

When I rub my dog's chest area am I really turning him on? My family always had female dogs growing up and I was always told it means the dog trusts you and you are making them less likely to bite if a child tries to pet them there.

I realize now 'tummy' may have been a little funny sounding- I meant the upper ares, under his neck.Should I stop rubbing that area?

There may be some swelling following the Op. So much so that you might think that he hasn't been done! That will subside in time
The two swellings that you are seeing on his penis are to allow him to lock into a ***** when mating. You are stimulating him by rubbing his tummy. What you are seeing is perfectly natural in a healthy male dog but you shouldn't be doing it too much!
Well done for being a sensible owner in having him neutered.

Yes, that is normal. My dog is the same way. The testicles were removed, probably thru a small incision in the belly. Everything else is just normal biology.

But no, your dog should not be able to father puppies ....

However, I was surprised that it really didn't change anything else in my dog. He learned to lift his leg and mark things.... a few years after the surgery. He is still very energetic. And he learned that it was fun to hump females... a few years after the surgery.... (I didn't llet him go too far)

The only thing that neutering does is stop pregnancies and certain types of cancer.

However, I recommend that you reduce the amount of food that you feed him to the lower range given on the package. My dog did start to get fat on the same amount of food from before the surgery. But now he is just fine. Good job !

Yes it is normal it is called the bulbis glandis it is the part of the anatomy that cause male dogs to tie with a female during mating
-----------
The difference between the human penis and the dogs is that
the dog's penis actually has a small bone in it, as well as
a bulb near the base on either side, which swells five times
its size with blood, once the dog has his penis inside the
female and begins thrusting in preparation to ejaculate.
This bulbous, along with the female's vaginal muscles,
ensures that the 'tie' cannot be broken until all the semen
is pumped from both testicles, which happens as alternative
spurts from each teste.

First of all, relax. you're not sounding like some kind of wierdo or anything. It's a legitimate question. We recently adopted a male dog, and found the same situation here. He was neutered a while ago, but the skin is still there, and sometimes it does the same thing. Vet said it was perfectly normal. Good luck.

He is neutered and what you are seeing are NOT testicles.
What you are seeing is glans that are on each side of the penis..these are what expand and swell during mating causing a tie.
It is perfectly normal and are there in ALL male dogs from birth and are there for life no matter if intact or altered.

yes, this sounds normal....talk to the dr about when he goes in for the recheck and suture removal...if the sacks are empty that's where the testicles used to be. Don't want to write too much because I think there are an awful lot of youngsters on here and the community guidelines.

Don't you have anything better to do than stare at your dog's balls?

I get stray cats neutered. It takes a while for the testicles to adjust to the operation.
