Lucy, it's NEVER too late to learn something new.
At work, you might check with the human resources (HR) office to see if they'll help pay for school for you.
Also, there are technical schools - usually associated with the local community college that can teach you some great new skills. A lot of those schools aren't very expensive.
Another idea is to take tours of other kinds of workplaces: fire stations, electric plants, printing plants, woodworking shops, construction companies and so on to see if their type of work interests you. I knew a lady who decided to take a ride in a semi truck, decided she loved it, and now drives all over the country as a professional truck driver.
Good luck to you!

hello Lucy, my maiden name is Simpson
But anyway, have you considered earning some extra money in the wellness industry? Don't dismiss this idea before you look at the information. It doesn't hurt to look.
If you truly wish to invest in a business that has the potential to make you money, then please take a look at this proposal. All of the great rich men, such as Donald Trump, Bill Gates...etc. are now, or have been involved in network marketing. This company is being launched in Europe this week. It has already taken Australia, Japan and Southeast Asia by storm. It has been introduced in the US. It was #8 in the list of Forbes 100 hotest new business opportunities. This is truly a once in a lifetime ground floor opportunity. Visit the website and take a look at the business presentation, it is worthy of a few moments of your time.

It may sound cliched but its never too late, and in fact I think that if you are older and more experience that sometimes it is easier to start out in something new because you have a little knowledge about life and the world.
Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, if this is something that you really want to do and remember that the law is on your side as well, so if people tell you "you're too old" it's ageism and not right, or legal!

ever heard of the saying you're never too old? My mum was your age when she went back to college and gained 6 RSA Qualifications and an Access to HE in computing. This enabled her to go on to be a secretary in a doctors surgery where she worked for 8 years. Since then she has learnt to drive and when she was 58 she gained her pcv licence and is now working in her dream job driving buses. My mum is now 60 and planning on working as long as she can, whereas before when she was working in various sewing factories she would have retired now. Hope this has inspired you.
