It would appear you don't GET cancer, it seems it is in your genes from birth. Certain things you do may trigger the cancer gene to kick in and obviously smoking will be a major factor in cancer. If one of your parents or grandparents had cancer, you're on a rocky road. Almost every man over 60 will have prostate cancer. It depends on the triggers as to how serious this is for the individual. As women don't have the prostate gland, the are likely to be more vulnerable to breast cancer.

How Do People Get Cancer?
No one really knows why cancer grows in certain people. Scientists and researchers are working to discover why some people get cancer and others do not. This will help them to learn whether cancer can be prevented.
Doctors do have some ideas about why people may get cancer, though. The main reasons are genetics and certain environmental or behavioral triggers.
The tendency to develop some types of cancer is believed to be inherited - that is, the genes you were born with might carry a predisposition for cancer. For example, if a close relative has had cancer of the breast or the colon, you may be more likely to inherit the tendency to develop those cancers, even though you may never actually get them.
Some behavioral and environmental triggers can cause changes in the body's cells that push them into a cancerous state. For example, cigarettes are known to increase the risk of lung cancer. Too much exposure to the sun can increase the risk of skin cancer. These types of triggers act on the body slowly over time, so the cancers that may result from them don't show up until a person is an adult. That's one reason why teens don't get the same types of cancers as adults do.
Doctors do know for sure that cancer itself is not contagious, so you don't have to worry about catching it from someone else or spreading it to another person (although people with certain infectious diseases such as AIDS or hepatitis are more vulnerable to certain cancers). Cancer is also never a person's fault. It's simply not true that a person may have done something wrong to get the disease.

I don;t know the physical cuase it but I am a great believer in metaphysical side of things which gets to the real root of the problem, that is our (negative) beliefs & thoughts ( subconsciously) create illness...cancer is supposed to be caused by longstanding resentment, deep hurt, deep secret or griief eating away at the self, carrying hatreds & the attitude of "what's the use?"...please understand I am NOT judging or blaming anyone, I think we all do the above & sometimes people hurt us so much we cannot forgive or let go..it's perfectly understandable...
we can use affirmations to change these negative beliefs (eg for cancer, the affirmation to use is I lovingly forgive & release the past.I fill my world with love & joy.I love & approve of myself.....
I have studied this & many of the ailments I had corresponded exactly to the metaohysical meanings.

Unfortunatly there are too many cancers out there to answer what causes it. It depends on the type of cancer your asking about. We all know the ones that are talked about mostly on tv, but many are really caused by unknowns and some we are born with, like leukemia. There's no way to tell if and or when it will develope. They say almost everything under the sun and moon causes cancer. So we can not worry about the what ifs, all we can do is live for today!

there are many triggers that can cause cancer and there are some genetic pre-dispositions of having certain types of cancer the most known one is breast cancer.
People tend to have cancer if one of their normal cells mutates and divides at a rapid rate thus in effect causing cancer. The main problem with cancer you really never know why you have it or what triggered the cell to mutate.
there is still alot of research into cancers and the causes of cancer which some of the factors are smoking, drinking too much alcohol, stress, exposed to certain chemicals such as pesticides.
Hope that has helped in a small way.

There are many causes for cancer, for different types of cancer. Genetic mutation of the cells under the influence of exogenous agents causes the cells to be transformed by the mutation in a form of cells, capable of dividing without the control of the body control systems, primitive cells that interfere with the normal function of the tissue or the organ where the tumour is localised. The tissue that these cells form uses the resources of the body, or the organ where it is localised and with the blood circulation may form similar tissue in another part of the body (metastasis). One can not live protected form risks, but the point is how do we all make these risks minimal...Everyone should be aware of the risks, who are they, where they come from and how they can cause mutation of the normal cells. Prevention is the best option, please stay informed and take care of your health

We all have cancer cells, everyone of us. The body manages to differentiate between these cells and destroy them. For all kinds of reasons whether body type, age, condition, or exposure to things that cause Cancer. Cancer is not the main problem it is the immune system that breaks down and cause cancer. This is why it is said you are in remission.
You have some oranges on a table in a bowel, all of a sudden one starts to go white and bad in one area. Cancer is the same it is to do with the above. Smoking causes cancer in lots of people mainly due to the pollution it causes in the lungs.
There are three types of basic cancer and they then split into grades of damage caused at the last count there were around just under four hundred types of cancer found on earth via the W.H.O. In England all cancers are registered at the university of Cambridge where all information goes into a data base to be shared world wide.
People get cancer for all kinds of reasons the main one is in body change and the break down in the immune system. We have to learn that we are living alot longer and our systems start to break down at a certain age and chemical changes allow a single cell to get through and multiply and the whitel cells do not see. Thats it Cancer.

All cancers are genetic, and there are many different kinds. Cancer is the cells of the body trying to make copies of themselve with no "STOP" switch, so they just keep making copies - these are then called "tumor cells". This is a gross overgeneralization of what cancer is. If you want a VERY detailed explanation to the NCBI Bookshelf web page and look up "Cancer Medicine", a huge book on the subject.

Cancer is an uncontrolled division of abnormal cells. The conversion of a cell from healthy to malignant involves changes in the DNA (this mutation risk factor causes cancer). In most cases, EXACT causes are not known - check out below link for detailed info:

People don't get cancer. people are born with cancer cells & something makes the cancer cells start growing & taking over by smothering good, normal healthy cells. Cancer has affected people since Adam & Eve.These factors of susceptibilty to cancer are determined by his or her genetic makeup, which is inherited. Go back to Adam & Eve's sin factor. The triggers may provoke cancerous changes in susceptible individuals range from sunlight and viruses to alcohol, chemicals in enviromental pollutants, tar in tobacco smoke, and dietary factors such as fat. Two, three ,or more such triggers may interact to cause cancers in the skin or internal organs.Cancer is not limited to people, it is also found in animals.
