With all of the privacy laws it is difficult to get this information unless you find a private site that charges you a fee for the information. I could not find a free site to find out if an old friend of mine had died the past year. The cheapest was INTELIUS.com., they only charged me $5.95 for the information. The other way is to go down to the County Records dept and research it.

In my area it's the county website, so check that out for court records. Obituaries should be on the online version of your local newspaper.

For obituaries, mostly you go to the funeral home web sites, there you can also send a sympathy card, online. I check our local ones each morning, if my name is not there, I go ahead with what I have planned for the day.
