Dyslexia can be helped by visual impact,i.e. Flash card images with words that are associated with the item of vocabulary. It is important to understand that Dyslexia is not an illness. It is associated only by peoples individuality, who see things differently thats all.We don't all become adapted to the accepted norm, although if you understand the terms of reading and writing its easier, try learning a new language thats confusing as well but not so very different . Cave men were artistic in their writing, they understood so much by their own communications.Everyone is different.

Hypnotherapy is used to modify behaviors and emotions. Dyslexia is not a behavioral or emotional problem. People with dyslexia seem to process information in the brain differently from people who are not dyslexic, so scientists believe it is caused by the way the brain is wired. You cannot change the way your brain is wired, so you cannot cure dyslexia.
People with dyslexia can learn certain techniques to avoid reading problems and perception problems that are common in dyslexics. Its possible that hypnotherapy could help speed up learning these things, but for most people, it takes a lifetime of practice.

I wish it could be that simple, when I was a young teenager i suffered from a severe case of "clumsy child syndrome"... nowadays its normally called mild dyslexia or past of as a behavioural dysfunction... I had councillors, special needs teachers, additional class supervision and generally was about as singled out as it was possible to be... I was miserable!
The truth is that what ever you call the problem its never a simple case of one treatment cures all... I just grew out of it at 15 years of age and my grades jumped from a D to a C/B average... by the end of GCSE's I had some of the best grades in my year.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that "treatment" is not as important as "support". When I stopped getting all the help at 14 the teachers were all resigned to my failure, but my family loved me and gave me the feeling that no matter what happened I would be OK. My stress levels dropped, I was no longer the class freak and within a year i was getting better and better.... Try to see things in perspective! The child has a long way to go, don't try to make a cure happen all at once. Give the child time and support...and for gods sake take Lisa J's advise, If you feel you must use alternative treatment get it from a professional qualified psychologist who offers it as a "complimentary treatment".
I wish you and the child all the very best... Love is by far the best treatment.

Are you nuts!!!? What on earth do you think dyslexia is, anyway?
You need to do some research and learn about it. It has to do with reading, writing, seeing, perception, etc. Hypnosis is nothing more than "snake oil" and just fools people who want to be fooled.
The 9 year old child who has dyslexia needs specialized care and education and if you have one, you should have begun before the child was age 5. To do anything less is totally unacceptable.

I would doubt it considering that dyslexia isn't a disease to begin with. Hypnotherapy might give the child a few coping strategies for the anxiety produced while trying to read or take tests.
Make sure your child is getting assistance from the school or a private specialist. The best way to help a dyslexic is to give them tools to learn in a way that complements their brains, not one that fights it.

i very much doubt it.
for one, i am not a firm believer in hypnotherapy, as a cure.
it works better with things like stopping smoking. that is it can be
useful in helping a person to break habits.
however, i've been hypnotised 'therapeutically', and it wasn't beneficial at all. except i fell asleep each time, and got some much needed rest.
i went for anxiety, and oddly started feeling more anxious.
so it definatley did not work for me.
it turned out what was being said was entirely inappropriate for my situation, yet i didn't know that. i was under when it was said, or even asleep.
then i listened to tapes which i'd been given to use at home, of same things said to me; and started to not fall asleep. a few of the things said were about Jesus and feeling guilty.
i was astounded it was in there. hence i stopped going.
especially since it was making me more anxious.
dyslexia. it isn't a habit. so i'm guessing no it won't be beneficial.
it probably isn't curable. so i wouldn't waste time or money on it.
i know you feel as if anything is worth a try. i was like that.
so i won't tell you to not go definately, because really anything is worth a try. you never know, there could be some beneficial effects.
but make sure you go to a reputable hypnotherapist, even one who is a psychiatrist that is honest, cares, and is not trying to sell something else. be on the look out for anyone who is selling things on the side, like their own supplements, vitamins and minerals, and other things that are said to cure, or aid. there are loads of people doing this. so be careful.
don't go to anyone who is selling products really, or selling them on the side. don't go to someone who is a book writer, self-help guru.
do not go to a hypnotherapist who does past life regression.
make sure the hypnotherapist is properly qualified.
go to someone who is focused on the therapy itself.

Schools only give out information on how the body works. They do not share ANYTHING about having sex. Parents should be there for there kids and explain to them the information. When I was little and the permission slip to take that class came home, my mom took me on a car drive and explained it to me. I liked how she told me a little bit at a time instead of shocking me by spilling out all he information at once- and she was honest with me and I think that is the best method. But I don't think lots of girls have education anymore in other countries- which is just sad. I remember I used to think that a girl could get pregnant if she loved someone but she didn't have to do anything physically, so I was afraid to have crushes. I think that younger girls think similar and if there parents don't take action and tell them then they will think the same. ======================================... ~Chocolate Dream

No. Dyslexia is a sort of short-circuit between the child's brain and eyes, not between his eyes and his mind.
I had some mild dyslexia as a child. I finally overcame it by keeping something always on my left hand. I still have some visual trouble, but it isn't dyslexia.

Hypnotherapy doesn't cure anything. I hate to burst your bubble on that. Only under a physicians care can this condition be treated, not cured.
