If you had written and said " I have heard that a Yugo is the best car out there, is it true?" I would say the same thing - No, No, No! Would we be doing you a mis-service by saying "well, if you like it go for it"? Absolutely. You asked, we tell. Bose is not just overpriced, it is crap and the people who buy it are victims of marketing ploys. My friend paid somewhere around $700-$1000 for a Bose system, and I could have gotten him better stuff for $200 by simply shopping better. He never could stand his Bose system, and he is not a sophisticated listener.

I cannot ever recommend that company's products. Great marketing though - it seems like half of the country thinks it is great stuff. I am embarrassed that my car came with Bose speakers - I actually have to drive around with that in my window.

BOSE speakers are ok, but they are priced as if they were the best. In other words, they suck FOR THE PRICE but they're decent as a generic speaker you might find at walmart on the sale rack. There is a very good reason that Bose spends so much $$$ on marketing. It's because the speakers cannot sell themselves. When have you ever seen ads for B&W? Axiom? Def Tech? Probably rarely, if ever. Yet they have no problems selling because they are genuinely fantastic speakers that are still affordable for most who are serious about a quality home theatre setup.

Bose isn't even close to the best for the money. They're great at marketing, but, their speakers leave a lot to be desired.
Not a little, a lot.
They deliver a certain level of highs, and, a certain level of lows, but leave a gaping hole in the mid-range.

Bose speakers are better cuz they have BIGGER magnets in them. The baffles are a nice touch. The bigger the magnet the better the sound. And of course bigger magnets mean more money too. Too complicated to explain.

Not even close. There are BEST speakers in every price category - but BOSE are not one of them.
Check reviews in some hi-end publications - www.stereophile.com for example.

Speakers which are good enough for music are good enough for HT - stereo is much better recorded and more demanding than HT.

Umm....Bose blows. Bose actually stands for 'boy our shits expensive'. I would recommend something like definitive loudspeakers, or energy....but it depends what you want to spend. I am assuming you have more money than brains, so I stuck with a similar price to what bose would cost.....

Pffft, you don't even wanna know how and what with they manufacture their crap, their monkeys coin new terms for their "superb" products like: WAVE, Acoustimass Technology, Electromagnetic Suspension System for Automobiles, Acoustic Waveguide Technology and all that tripe, buy something else, god, a HTIB would better their equipment

(HTIB stands for Home Theatre In A Box)

Hi. As you can see by the response of others Bose is not very popular. But some people do like them.Have you listened to them to hear for yourself. The best speakers are the ones you like, after all you have to live with them .As bad as they may be it is your decision. Most people on Answers will tell you that it is your choice when it comes to selecting speakers because they all sound different. No one can say buy the speakers that appeal to you but don't get Bose. That is contradictory. The most important thing to do is buy the best Amplifier you can afford to have a good signal to drive whatever speakers you use.Even poor speakers can come alive with the right electronics.Unfortunately most A/V enthusiasts miss this point by putting speakers first in the order of importance ...
