If this isn't a sweeping generalization of doctors. The research scientists working on this are more often than not PHDs and not making the money of a medical doctor.

Scientists have recently announced (within the past few days) that they have figured out a way to take adult mouse stem cells and convert them to embryonic stem cells. Eventually someone will probably figure out a way to do this with human cells, where no "babies" die.
For years unwanted embryos were "discarded" from fertility clinics, and now all of a sudden there is a big "new" ethical problem with this. Where was the outrage before? Doesn't anybody "get it" that studying embryonic stem cells will benefit ALL children because we will know more about how to prevent bad things happening to them? And what is wrong with a doctor making money off of an invention? Doctors need money to fund more research, or build laboratories, or add wings to hospitals. And it was doctors and scientists that figured out how to cure certain cancers and how to keep a diagnosis of being HIV positive from being an automatic death sentence. Some doctors might be mostly in it for the money, but to say that ALL of them are is absurd - it takes too long for school (which costs a small fortune by the way) and the work load is too vast for anybody to want to do it just to get rich - it would make more sense to go into banking if you wanted to do that.
You also need to remember that at first treatments may only be available to the wealthy, but over time the cost can go down, and they will eventually be available to just about anybody.
This issue is much more complicated than your simplistic viewpoint.

The stem cells of a blastocyst (the first stages of a fetus) are in the state of flux and they can become whatever the fetus will need to become a complete organism. In adult stem cells these cells aren't as readily able to become anything because they are the product of a complete organism that is aging and dying.
My belief is that if God doesn't want stem cell research then the research would produce nothing and be abandoned. Man has a really bad habit of believing that a God exists, but not letting that God fight the battles. Too many people find the need to become God's warriors when God isn't even recruiting.
Abortion is legal in this country and my question is why should this tragic harvest (I would not have an abortion if I was a woman) not produce some benefit to mankind in the form of providing a source of healing. Aborted material is incinerated which to me is a waste of any form of life. If a pregnancy is terminated then why not give that fetus a chance to heal others?

The problem is that if research doctors ever find a "cure" for any of the biggies, then there'll be unemployed research doctors and no grants to hospitals or centres. Think of how many cancer centres are all around the world and how many people depend on diseases to pay their bills.
I'm no conspiracy theorist, but I do wonder if medical society are being totally up front with us. I can't help but feel they are not.
to the above responders....how many commercials for drugs do you see? How many different "conditions" or "afflictions" have you heard of for the first time in the last few years that can ONLY be helped by purchasing one of these drugs? The doctors themselves are separate from the drug industry machine, and that one IS out to make as much money as possible. They create health problems where there are none just to sell us more pills. Can you honestly trust this pill-pushing machine??

i'm taken with it. that's the main stepped forward thank you to do learn and the quickest thank you to locate remedies for many terrible illnesses, consisting of Huntingtons that's genetically inheirited and at this factor, a terminal ailment. lots of people who're anti this type of learn have not have been given any theory what that is choose for to exhibit screen somebody you adore die via inches over 15 years, the place they get to a factor the place they'd't walk talk or perhaps swallow until now they die in many cases at around 50 yrs previous. i think that a undertaking that some human beings have re. utilising stem stell from aborted embryoes is they're in touch that individuals will initiate paying females to have abortions to get stem cells. this could be incorrect so rules could be put in place so as that this did no longer take place and likewise to make beneficial that the mummy gave consent for the stem cells for use. of path, as replaced into stated there are different basic basic procedures to get stem cells besides and that they've been doing stem cellular learn on a undeniable sort of pig from the Auckland Islands, that's fairly comparable to human stem cells. human beings get cloning mixed up. having the flexibility to make beneficial that the toddler would not have those illnesses until now suitable implantation is a miles cry from "making a toddler have blue eyes, blond hair and selecting the intercourse merely considering which you elect for a clothier toddler.

Stem cells have been shown to have a very real medical advantage to otherwise incurable patients. Ther is a potential there to cure or better control several cancers, diabetes, Parkison's desease to just name a few. This is not some BIG medical scam to soak up more money for doctors.

Until stem cells can be taken for sources other than embryos, I'm totally against it. *The idea is a marvelous one on an ideal world where people play by the rules, but we'll see women getting pregnant for the sole purpose of selling their embryos, and, that's immoral.
....and I can see the thumbs down by bundles, but if there are people that will do it and we all know it.

I am afraid you are right, but not all Doctors. There are doctors who do not share the idea, but it is unethical for them to speak. The problem is that the patient is made to believe that he is doomed without this so called modern scientific methods. Once the mind is programmed, then it happens as the patient believes. Only a genius can break through the matrix.

What is the basis for opposition to stem cell research? Does the Bible mention stem cells? Did Jesus preach a sermon about the use of fetuses? Which Bible verse talks about abortions?
Doctors will always find ways to make money. Do you do your job for free?

I see your point. I think that if the doctors are going to do stem cell research, that they should do it on adult stem cells so they don't have to kill human embryos. And if the research is supposed to benefit all people, then they should make it affordable so that the people who need it can get it.
