I have a 1991 jeep Cherokee 4WD and my CV joints are starting to go up front, i think, from the "clickity-clack" sound that I hear constantly now. I was just wondering if it is safe to drive around with that or should I get them fixed ASAP, or will this only effect my four wheel drive capabilities? I am a poor college student :(

Thanks in advance.

Its always best to get something fixed as soon as possible to avoid further damage. If one of those CV joints fails and the shaft come apart it will cause damage to surrounding parts under the vehicle as it flops around loose. Its by far easier and cheaper to have them replaced before they break than it is to fix more things that get broke due to the CV joint failure.

generally unless it really makes a solid heavy thunking when turning lock to lock you should be alright for a while but depends on milage you are doing day to day I would advise you to get a mechanic to have a look at them just in case there is more than meets the ear.
