when almost finished: add some tomatoes with the meat & onions
add salt and a lot of pepper and maybe some wine-vinegar

Romanian Grilled Minced Meat Rolls

INGREDIENTS

2 pounds ground beef
8 ounces chopped suet
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon caraway seeds
3 cloves garlic, minced
salt and pepper to taste
1 teaspoon finely ground juniper berries
2 tablespoons water
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons beef broth

DIRECTIONS

In a medium bowl, mix together the ground beef, suet, baking soda, caraway seeds, garlic, salt, pepper and juniper berries using your hands. Mix with your hands for about 15 minutes, adding a little bit of the water at a time. This part can be made a few hours ahead of time if you like.

Preheat a grill for high heat. With wet hands form the meat into rolls about 3 inches long and 1 inch thick. Brush lightly with oil.

Grill the meat for 5 to 10 minutes, basting frequently with a mixture of beef broth and any remaining oil, until well done.

i have not tried this because i dislike mince meat but sounds good.

Cottage or Shepherds Pie. Just need potato topping. 3/4 cook pots and mince. Mash spuds and place on top of mince. Put in micro for couple of minutes, then return to oven for a minute to brown. And grate some cheese on top. Makes all the difference.

Simply. Cheap. Filling.

Bon appetteet (?)

Marmite Mince

INGREDIENTS

* 1 tablespoon butter
* 2 small onion, diced
* 1 pound lean ground beef
* 4 teaspoons yeast extract spread, e.g. Marmite/Vegemite
* 2 1/2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
* 1 teaspoon paprika
* 2 cubes beef bouillon
* 2 tablespoons brown gravy mix
* 1 cup water

DIRECTIONS

1. Melt the butter in a wok over medium heat. Add the onions, and fry until soft. Crumble in the ground beef; cook and stir until evenly browned. Push all of the beef and onion out to the sides, leaving a pool of butter in the center. Add the yeast spread to the pool, and mix until dissolved. Stir into the ground beef.
2. Mix in the paprika, and bouillon cubes. The mixture will start to become sticky and bind together. Mix in the water and gravy mix. It will be sticky at first. Just stir and bring to a simmer, and it is ready to serve.

You can serve this over rice, pasta or potatoes

Make your own burgers. Blitz up an onion, garlic, mustard seeds, smoked paprika and worcestershire sauce in a blender and mix in the mince with an egg to bind. Shape into burgers and chill before cooking on the bbq or grill. Add some chilli powder before cooking if you like them spicier
