Don't hit her. After you hit the kid, what's left?
She's doing that for attention. Don't cater to her, but distract her with something to do. Do it with her for a couple of minutes and then leave her to it.
Try time-outs. YOU have to be patient with her. Make a spot in the area you spend the most time in, a naughty spot and make her sit there for 2 minutes. Tell her you're putting her there because _____.
If she gets up, put her back. Don't say a word, just put her back. You might have to do this 20 times, but she'll get the message. When the two minutes are up, give her a hug and do something together.

Tell her “your behavior is unacceptable” then give her a time out in her room. When is realizes she is NOT WINNING- getting her way, she will stop the behavior.
If you must spank someone(s), her parents is a great place to begin for their obviously poor parenting skills !!! They obviously know nothing of child rearing !! The little brat granddaughter has masterfully gained control over them with her behavior!

the only way to stop that behavior is to make it clear that it will NOT get the child her way, and will get her punished (2 1/2 is DEFINITELY old enough to get a spanking or time-out), and then STICK BY IT. giving in to a screaming child only teaches them to scream every time they want something.

Shout out a bigger, high pitched scream back at her tell her you dont' get what you want either and walk away. In today's society we are not allowed to "spank" out kids..social services will be on your tail.... I screamed at my daughter one time and she never did it again.. she looked at me like I was crazy.. but it worked! Good luck

pass, you dont, you just try and make it so she is not angry or upset and the screams subside then. But two year olds are known for tantrums so sadly this might just be the case for another 6 monhts lol

Spank her, put her in her room. Is it the only way she gets attention. You need to help her learn to deal with her anger differently. And show her how to get attention positively.

Give her a time-out so she will learn that she can't always get what she wants.

Spank her butt and put her in time out. Once you quit giving her positive attention in response, she'll learn it's not effective.
