Did you have a good time in Mexico? What about safety? Weather?

I'd like to do at least 3 things while I'm there. 1) Go to a nice beach. 2)Go to a major city where I can go to museums, maybe a zoo, and probably a concert(love latin music) 3) Go to an archeological site. Thanx.

it's hard to say, not knowing what you like, but if you want good beaches, the yucatan is great, but cancun is so touristic that it loses its authenticity. Try Isla Mujeres near Cancun, or Playa del Carmen, or go to Tulum and see the Mayan ruins on the beach.
I didn't like Acapulco. Pretty from the air, but not at all relaxing or fun.
I love Mexico City. If you like cities, you'd be surprised at the fantasies in this city!
For history, check out San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato. For even older history, check out Teotihuacan and Tula. Puerto Vallarta is a nice town on the beach, but the sand is not beautiful like Yucatan. PV has also a nice old part that is authentic. If you're a frat boy or just want to go get drunk and flirt with hookers, just go to Tijuana, but that's not my kind of trip. I could go again and again to Mexico, it's got great variety and lots of interesting places. Next i want to visit Chiapas and Oaxaca.
Oh, I also went to Cozumel and got my scuba license in 3 days at Studio Blue. It was a tired little town so I had to do something. The reefs were beautiiful!

I would check out Secrets Capri. It is a fantastic resort located in the Riviera Maya. I’m a big fan of snorkeling and Secrets Capri has the best snorkeling since the world’s second largest barrier reef lies right off the shore. I also love that they have a wait staff at the pool and the beach. Once I’m settled in a spot, I don’t have to move a muscle because the waiters take care of everything, it’s the best. The food is also amazing. I am a big fan of Portofino, the Italian restaurant. The steak is so good. Good luck with your decision!

If you go to the standard, well-advertised vacation spots, you'll be perfectly fine. Security is good, the food and fun are wonderful, the weather is mostly terrific (not during hurricanes, OK?). Drink bottled water in places like Cancun and Cozumel...and don't brush your teeth in the tapwater there. The water supply for washing and laundry, etc. is from salty aquifers below the island. Most of the hotel and restaurant staff in the tourist resorts speak some English...you won't have any trouble communicating.

The whole system changes, however, if you go off the beaten track. Better have your vaccinations, your water purification system, your bug spray and SPEAK SPANISH if you want to explore the interior.

Not knowing what you like makes it tough. I have been to Cabo, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta and going by the two things you mentioned, P.V. has the best restraunts and friendliest people. That's why we've bought a timeshare there and keep going back.
