we both just want a civil wedding, so what documents are needed, how long time does it take until we can actually get married and will she be allowed to live in england with me straight after we are married? would it be easier if i was to get married in portugal? does anyone knows the answer to this questions?

You have big questions that you need clear and concise answers. You need to do some research on both ends. Your girlfriend needs to find out from the Japanese Government what she is going to need in order to LEAVE her country permanently. These questions require specific and definite answers that Yahoo Community could only guess at. Both of you have work to do - contact your govenments to find out.

u can go to japan as a holiday and get married there and then come back to England but if u want to become a british citizen(s) (and this is assuming that 1 of u dont have ur papers/documents yet) then one of u has to be a citizen or a national for the other person to automatically become a citizen or resident. u may have to apply through the home office though. If u've lived in england for more than 3-5 yrs then u r entitled to have a citizenship(assuming u don't already know this!)
