The previously given advice is sensible as is limiting dairy products. An online search should give information about dietary advice. Use mild hypoallergenic detergent to wash clothes, towels and bedclothes. If your grandaughter keeps her skin moisturised with unperfumed products such as E45 it should also lessen flare ups and help prevent thickening of the skin from successive outbreaks.

Limit her exposure to chlorinated water...if she swims in a pool, have her shower off immediately (hopefully there's a water filter in the line to remove the chlorine) then put lotion on her body. When she has the patchy break outs, get her some prescription lotion to put on them. This is pretty much all you can do for her. She may grow out of it...then again, she may not.

My brother had it when he was younger, its usually treated with lotions and medications on the skin. Try not to bathe her too often as it will irratate her skin. Otherwise no worries. Most people who get it at that age grow out of it.
