If you are male and 16, then you are probably not finished growing. Most healthy males can expect to continue growing at least until age 18 and many until age 21. You may continue to be shorter than others your age, but you will probably grow taller than 5'6".
Your growth is regulated by your pituitary gland which excretes growth hormone. There are synthetic versions of this hormone, but it is highly unlikely you'll find a doctor willing to prescribe it (it is illegal unless there is some underlying medical disorder).
You can help your body to remain healthy and grow normally by eating a healthy/balanced diet, consuming plenty of water, getting adequate rest and maintaining a regular exercise routine.
I can empathize, since I am only 5'2", but be proud of your height. It sets you apart from the others.

5' 6" in not short last I looked, and unfortunately there is no known way to make yourself taller. I always used to tell my kids to drink plenty of milk, it may not make you taller but it will make your bones stronger and healthier. Height is overrated anyway- It is not your height that towers over people it is the confidence you have in yourself and how you present yourself to others. My mom is 4' 11" and she could be the tallest person in the room if she wanted to be. People don't remember how tall you are, they remember what a nice person you are :o)

Haha. I'm 22 and 5'6. Its not about taller anymore man, there is nothing we can do. Start bulking up, hit the gym. You might pop up in a few years also. Good luck

You can't do a thing about your genetic makeup. You have to learn to accept yourself for who you are.
Besides, actors and astronauts are approx. your size and they do fine in life.
