No of course not, it is an easy way to find out if you still have a Job....

no not at all... the schedule at my work is done the same way, and if I don't work on a weekend I will call in and ask when I do work. I would suggest to ask a manager or a coworker you trust though... I only say that because I asked someone I work with that I don't know well and he gave me someone else's schedule (whether by mistake I don't know). Or at least have someone tell you the first day in the week you work and then you can check the schedule for the rest of the days when you get there.

Plus, it also looks responsible to call and get your own schedule than to assume someone will call and tell you or that you'll get the exact same schedule as the previous week.

No you shouldnt feel awkward. I do it quite frequently as my shifts are not the same. I have to go into personnel to write down my hours so im not late for work but there have been the odd occasion where I forget to do this so I need to call in.

I used to feel the same way but when it comes down to it would they rather you not know and you miss work? It's awkward I know, but if you can try to stop into work and see the schedule, it looks better.

Why should you feel awkward? It just says that you are interested in knowing your schedule and making sure you're at work when you're supposed to be.
