i wanna ebcome and counselor or psychiatrist but im scared too
because if your patient kills themselves dont the family balme you and cant u be in legal messes being a counselor or not

it's good that you are concerned about your patients. you will just need to learn your job and be good at it. you will also carry medical malpractice insurance in the case one of your patients does sue you. some doctors also put their personal assets into corporate names / their cars / houses for this reason. the work hard and want to protect their assets in the case they are sued / they will be judgement proof. if they have no assets there won't be anything for the family suing to collect. i would decide if this is the field you would like. maybe learn about it / go see one / ask to job shadow for a day or two. maybe volunteer in a hospital ask for psych ward cause you are a student and exploring it as a career option. learn about it and decide if you think you would like this job. in answer to your questions, YOU CAN DO IT (if you want to) and you should not be afraid of the legal issues). this is what lawyers help you with.

Not your problem if they kill themselves.
Used to have a job with the railroad.
People liked to jump in front of trains.
My job was to make sure all the aftermath was cleaned up so the commuters never saw the grossness.
First few jobs were bothersome to me. But, then I sucked up and made sure my job was done to perfection.
Someone not happy with their life or environment and want to end it. Not my problem. My job was to ensure no one ever saw the bad stuff so I just kept moving on.

if you are a good counselor you shouldn't have to deal with that kind of situation. and most counselors choose what they want to deal with.
as for your nerves they will calm down because with training and schooling you will know how to deal with situations and if it does come the point of you dealing with suicide as long as you follow precautions they can not sue you.
