West Coast of Scotland...not loads of tourists, good beaches, good walks, lots of wildlife, but if you want a typical Brit holiday of music, beer, vomit...please don't go..........

My favourite UK seaside resort is Swanage in Dorset, went every year from my youngest daughter being 2. There is a big crowd of us that have been going for years and we meet up for the carnival week each year and up until the last couple of years we could guarantee good weather and come back browner than most who had been abroad.

Some caravan parks now do short breaks - fri-mon - mon-thurs go to www.bourneleisure.co.uk or www.havenholidays.co.uk www.britishholidays.co.uk they have a lot of parks around UK although self-catering - you can make up your own mind.
I have a caravan on the East Coast (Nr. Filey) so I can go to Filey, Bridlington and Scarborough and Whitby is not theat far away for a day trip out
The Beaches and coastline are beautiful and they is plenty to do and see.
Wish you luck and have a great holiday

Minehead in Somerset. I was there last week. There is a steam railway that runs from Minehead to Taunton (almost).
Great fish and chips. Quiet resort.
A little disorientating though because the coastline faces north, not south, and I'm used to south facing coastlines!
It is near Exmoor, Dunster, and some really nice countryside.

whitby is fantastic as you have the beach, the abbey, dracula (thats where he landed) great hotels and guest houses, the pubs and clubs are good. fresh lobster, crabs and other seafood, and it is all really reasonable. plus you have robin hoods bay, filey and scarborough just miniues away, plus the north york moors which are absolutely breathtaking, heartbeat country is just a stones throw away
