Here is what I would do. Go to a travel website (Travelocity, Expedia, etc.) and look under Rental Cars. You can get vehicles listed by price or by rental agency. Find which one has the cheapest price for the class of vehicle you need. Then go to that company's website and do the same search. Sometimes you can find better deals directly through the rental company. Finally, if you have promotional codes, use those to see if it helps you get any discounts.

One caution, mileage may be limited if you take the car out of the state you rented it from. Also, is this a one-way rental? You'll need to find out about additional costs for these situations through the agency.

Go to Priceline.com and enter all of the information. They'll give you a list of the six major rental car companies and their prices. I did this just the other day, and Alamo came out the cheapest. I am renting a car for a week and a half.

However, there may be additional costs for dropping the vehicle off at another location. But Priceline is the best way to find what you are looking for.

Summer is tough as it is vacation season. Go to a travel page and ask for some promo codes. I rent with Avis and Hertz and they mail or e mail stuff to me on occasion.
If you have a NWA frequent flyer miles number you may want to go to the National Rental Car company. Two weeks will give you lots of points and soon a free airline tickets.
