Also, who do you model them on, and why?

"My imaginary friend thinks you have serious problems".
(That's the pic I have on my YIM) :">
He's right though, didn't you ever have one as a child?
Did you ever hear/read/see "Harvey the Rabbit"?

Imaginary Friends are fairly common practice among pre-schoolers. Who knows just why or how they imagine them. Some kids want a scapegoat to blame their 'bad' moments on. Other kids want a brother or sister or a pet...........
It is all open to the imagination.

For a teenager or adult to have an imaginary friend is considered an oddity, and something to have a psychologist look into, as it may well be a symptom of a condition needing to be treated so that the person can live a normal life.

An imaginary friend is just that, imaginary. If you don't have an imagination, maybe you aren't going to have, need, want this kind of friend.
Didn't you play as a child and read to your pets or anything of that sort... it comes up rather naturally as a rule. It can also be an unnatural filling of a void in your life if you need an escape.
