I believe we are entering the 'Endtimes'.
Genuine Born Again Christians have normally not given King Solomon's Temple much thought, for we realize that Jesus Christ fulfilled all the types and shadows of the Old Testament law, of which the Temple was an integral part. Jesus foretold in Matthew 24 that the glorious Herodian Temple, which was modeled after the Solomon Temple, would be totally destroyed. Listen:
Today the Temple Mount remains one of the most significant symbols of the contention over Jerusalem. For Muslims it is a rallying point, the site of the Night Journey and two of the most beautiful and holy buildings of Islam, a symbol of the long Muslim connection with al-Quds. For Jews, it is the site of the lost temple, both the holiest spot in Judaism and a symbol of the many trials and tribulations the Jews have been through, as well as the promise of the Messianic Age when the Temple will once more be rebuilt. Indeed there are some Jewish extremist groups who want to usher in the Messianic Age themselves by rebuilding the Temple, an idea that, as one might imagine, causes Muslims no small consternation. The future of the Temple Mount is uncertain, hidden in an ever-shifting mélange as symbols as rich and complicated as its history.
"And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to show him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down." [Matthew 24:2; Parallel Bible, KJV/Amplified Bible Commentary]
History records that this Temple which had so impressed Jesus' disciples was destroyed in A.D. 70. It was destroyed by the Roman Army that had laid siege to the city; further, even though the soldiers were under strict orders to not destroy the Temple, they set fire to it, and caused that fire to burn so hot for so long, and so thoroughly, that the stones heated hot enough to turn the gold liquid, flowing out of even the mortars of the bricks. When the fire cooled, Jesus' prophecy was exactly fulfilled..
In New Testament Epistles, neither Paul nor any other Apostle emphasized the Temple; in fact, they virtually ignored it! The writer to the Hebrews made it quite clear that the Covenant of Jesus Christ completely abolished the First Covenant of which the magnificent Temple was such.......

Yes we are living in the last days.
The Bible does not say anything about rebuilding the temple.
The reason people are looking for a new temple is because of
2 Thessalonians 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
Because the temple was torn down people are now looking for a new temple to be built. This is not the case however for the Lord. His temple is not a building built by man.
Luke 17: 20 & 21
20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
We are the temple of God. It is within us. Looking for the temple to be built for the anti-christ is wrong.
The anti-christ will possess an indivual and live inside his body, "the Temple of God".
Yes the world can be changed very quickly. Revelation 18:17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought...

There will be wars and rumors of wars, famine, pestilence, plagues and earthquakes. Here are some others that not everyone knows but should wake up and smell the coffee over: the Gospel of Christ will be spread to the whole world-now, people will be proud of what they should be ashamed of-now, people will be marrying and giving in marriage-now, people will be trading as never before-now, people will be traveling to and fro-now, there will be an increase of knowledge as not seen since the beginning of time-now, there will be an increase of mockers and scoffers towards Christianity-now, Israel will get their nation back-now, then Israel at a later time will get Jerusalem back-now, that the generation that sees the reestablishment of Israel as a nation again will see the end. What is a generation? To me, it is 100 years. Israel got their country back-they lost it in 70 AD-on May 5, 1948. I think the 200 million man army that descends on Israel will be the Muslims and the revived Roman Empire that saves them (10 countries, 5 strong 5 weak-partial coalition) will be us. I also believe the spirit of the anti-christ enters the leader of the revived Roman Empire after 3 and a half years and that is our president at the time-we turn against Israel-the anti-christ wants a third temple built-the Jews balk-we attack and they finally bow to Jesus and He returns for his 1000 year reign on earth and Christians are resurrected.

There were so many people and religions that have predicted the end. Some ministers 25 years ago were so 'brilliant' that they gave a time period of 10 years:) Read Psalm 90 where Moses prayed of humans aging up to 70 years (remember this is a prayer directly to God from Moses) But this same Moses wrote about people that nearly reached a thousand years. Also mentioned in this psalm 'a thousand years in the eyes of God is like yesterday' Yes the bible tells us of signs at the end of time and we see it daily THE CHANGE OF SEASONS..... But only God and Him alone knows the TIME!

None of this applies to me actually. I was never a Bible-Basher. I was never someone who spoke with such vehemence as some of you or others do. They're on their own bigotry with irrational understandings at times. I was once a Christian for few years and deconverted for the very reasons never mentioned by the Christians, Yahoo Answers!, their rationale, their Biblical reasons for believing so (I was the seed that was planted on the rock instead of soil as they say) or just that I was not "born-again," which is absolutely preposterous. There is almost no reason to "bash" you Christians. I have nothing to gain from here. I find that it's interesting to me how many here have cultural thought-pattern that never ceases to amaze me, as well as many other people. I could very well be writing a paper about how Christian sub-culture runs. It is quite interesting, also for you to mention that it's this "intellectual pit" that has kept you from your "belief in God." This is quite a feat for I find there's nothing of sorts that would be an "intellectual pit." You seem to have aspired to that yourself rather than focusing on the reality of life. Christianity, along with many other religion are quite sensationalistic: in that they rely on your emotions to be moved by the "love story" of being saved. This then, add to the fact that you (also) begin to feel ashamed that such human beings could do such abominable act, will sympathize and empathize with "God." One can say that these stories exists in many fictional heroic Novels as well. Aside from that fact, you will attest to the fact that this is true, for now, your emotionally and "spiritually" connected to your "loving Savior." I had to rebuild my entire identity from being a Christian, actually. And quite honestly, I'm glad I deconverted. =)

Are we Living in the End Times?
What will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age? This was a question the disciples asked Jesus.
Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ, and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. (Matthew 24:4-8)
Signs
Many will go here and there to increase knowledge. (Daniel 12:4) Right now technology increased so quick every thing in our houses is out dated in about half a year. We have so much knowledge available through the Internet; we will never be able to view it all on just one subject.
On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. (Zechariah 12:3) Just about everyone in the world is now against Israel. No one is able to destroy Israel once they become a nation again.
They will say, "This land that was laid waste has become like the garden of Eden; the cities that were lying in ruins, desolate and destroyed, are now fortified and inhabited." (Ezekiel 36:35) Before Israel came back to their promised land, the land was desolate. Now they are one of the biggest traders in the world in produce. Israel has rebuilt the entire city that was ruins. Israel has everything they need to rebuild the temple right now.
He will raise a banner for the nations and gather the exiles of Israel; he will assemble the scattered people of Judah from the four quarters of the earth. (Isaiah 11:12) This prophecy has already happened. Israel was scattered in 70AD. Now Israel has become a nation again.
He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. (Revelation 13:15) this prophecy can now take place. We now have computers that can keep track of everyone in the world. The world is already trying to form a one world government and currency.
Their bodies will lie in the street of the great city, which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. For three and a half days men from every people, tribe, language and nation will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial. (Revelation 11:8-9) Now this prophecy can happen also. Everyone can now watch these people on TV. We now have satellites that can show everyone in the world what is happening in a single place.
They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. (Luke 21:24) The time of the gentiles was 70A.D. until June 7, 1967. The 1967-generation is the generation that will see the Lord return. The bible says, "Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. (Matthew 24:32-34) The fig tree is the symbol of Israel. The leaves coming out of the fig tree is the Jews becoming a nation again. Summer is referring to the days when Jesus will come back for the second time. The generation that sees this prophecy happen will not pass away until the Lord returns.
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them. (2 Timothy 3:1-5) This prophecy is happening today. This describes just about everyone today.
Friend we are living in the end times right now. If you were to die today would you go to heaven or hell? If Jesus were to come back tonight would you already be right with him?

We know that there will be a Temple built at least by the mid - trib period. Because The Antichrist will set up his image in The Holy of Holy's.
The World can change over night, indeed it shall ! In a flash, everything people hold on to will be ripped from their grasp, and they shall be left desolate, they will cry out for peace, and suddenly, destruction will come. They will cry out for a leader to save them, and Antichrist will come, and those who jeered at Christ's Name, will grasp at Antichrist, and call him father, god.

Humanity has advanced through ever-increasing levels of unities from family to clan to tribe to village to town to city to city state to nation. We have survived it all, but all hell broke loose during the transitions. We will survive as a species during this transition until we reach the inevitable planetary unity. Since it is the biggest level of unity, the resistance will be the biggest. It's scary to let go of that with which we are familiar. Entrenched powers resist violently. But look around. People are beginning to understand the urgent need for planetary unity. Many are working to bring about justice and unity on a planetary level. And, hey, guess what. If we don't like planetary peace and unity, we can always go back to warring it out between nations and other groups. There is hope.

The Bible says nothing about rebuilding on the Temple Mount. This is just a load of crap made up by ultra-Zionist Jews and Evangelical Christians in order to justify their own evil activities.
Its a typical example of greedy and corrupt people using religion to justify their own personal persuit of money and land.
I suggest your ignore what the fundie nutters tell you, and read the Bible for yourself. You will probably find what is contained within it quite at odds with what religious nutters tell you about the middle east.

The world is not slipping, it is being pushed by the Bush Administration that has yet again taken the wrong side and screwed everything up. Bush forced this fight by withholding support and even political recognition of Hamas even though they trounced Fatah in a democratic election. Now, they have trounced Fatah militarily as well.
As for your question; Why not focus on the real world instead of mythological events?

You are partially right. It's late and I transposed hamas and fatah. Other than that, it is not wrong.
Even the neocon Elliot Abrams has suggested that Bush wanted to start a Palestinian civil war.
http://conflictsforum.org/2007/elliot-abrams-uncivil-war/
People have been predicting and claiming the end is near for 2000 years and they will continue for another 2000. They have always been wrong and they always will be wrong – because it is just make-believe.
