I think religion was out dated by the media.

1. The creation of the world is the most marvelous achievement imaginable. Therefore we can not Conceive of a more marvelous achievement PERIOD -- I agree. SO, the marvelousness of the Universe.. to us, the created, is INIFINITE, that is.. by virtue that we can not conceive of anything MORE marvelous then THAT. -- I agree. 2. The merit of an achievement is the product of (a) its intrinsic quality, and (b) the ability of its creator. SO, if B is less then zero.. then the Product of A x B will be GREATER then either of the 2 components.. agreed? So if merit = A x B and so long as B is not ZERO, then MERIT is not ZERO. Furthermore, if we can not conceive of anything more Marvelous then the Universe (point #1) then HOW can we find a better quality of such a creation? SO, it would seem, without arguing over a finite number..that A, has to result in MORE quality then any other thing we can imagine, if we first agree that the Universe is more marvelous then we can imagine. RIGHT? A, might approach inifinity, if we can't find something MORE marvelous then the Universe, which would arguably have higher quality....RIGHT? Since B is not ZERO, AND since the ability to Create the Universe has to be pretty high, even though there might be a higher ability (see point 3-5) then when we multiply A x B , we will get an even HUGER number. Since A is alreayd higher then anything we can imagine... then B would only make this huger then we can conceive of, AMPLIFYING the majesty of point #1, if they are = or equivalent. Thus without even commenting on 3-5 which seem impossible and illogical statements.. Simply looking at 1 &2 we find that God is MORE marvelous and impressive then we can even imagine. If we can't even imagine it, in our finite brains.. HOW can we quantify it further and find something MORE marvelous and more worthy then that which already exceeds our finite capacity to even comprehend. Again.. to go beyond #2, means we are going beyond what is even possible. Besides.. we all know that outside of silly argumentation.. #5 is simply not possible...ergo it is nonsensical. #6 seems likely to be the base line assumption that the argument started with and worked backwards to justify. It is clever in that it seems to try and trick the reader into first agreeing with #1 and then, not being able to let go of assumption/point #1, gets baited into agreeing with #6. The refutation comes in the middle, particularly in how you address #2. This argument has logical form.. but not logical premises.

Blind faith is that which is held for no reason or despite evidence to the contrary. I'm sure that most people's faith was blind in the Middle Ages because they were illiterate and had know way of knowing what was true except by what they were told. We live in the Information Age. Theology is just as easy to study as astronomy. So nobody with an average intellect and an Internet connection has any excuse for not being well informed in theology. Logic is the same at all times. The term contemporary logic' seems a little prejudicial. Of course not everybody's logic is sound, but sound logic will always reach the same conclusions - no matter the age in which it is being applied.

All that being said...
The short answer is, "yes". Keep in mind that God is beyond our capacity to completely understand - but much about his is knowable. Aristotle used logic to show this. Of course there are no Aristotelian era western religions anymore, precisely because what the Greeks believed about God in those times was contradictory to logic. Concerning Christianity - read Augustine, Aquinas, Lewis and Chesterton. I have read many of their writings, and they show beyond any reasonable doubt how logical Christianity is. But remember that although God cannot contradict logic, he is also above it. Meaning that many truths about God cannot be reached through logic alone. That's why he has given us revelation through Jesus, the Bible and the Church.

Religion is a tiny little germ that squirms under the power of the logical Domestos but still hangs in there for some illogical reason. Blind faith should be rewarded with a bullet in the head or a jesus cross up the rear end.

1) yes
2) no - and I'm not sure chastity belts aren't a good idea still.(One should be invented for men)

I'm sure what you mean by logic is science. God stands up to science. I think sometimes life seems so unaffected by God that we imagine ourselves smarter and wiser than we are. Sometimes we forget that God knows a bit more about the earth than we do. No matter how much we think we know, I'm sure there are a million ways that God could add onto what we say, or prove us entirely wrong.

Using logic on religion is like using a ruler to measure electrical current.

Logic is not much of a currency in religion, faith is what matters. Besides what is logic to one is not logic to all.

Are you serious ? I'm sure you meant to say contemporary logic which is a bit of an oxymoron !
Since when has logic ever had anything to do with religion ...logic is man made whereas Religion has God at the centre !
Talk about diametrically opposed !
Do you think faith in God is something relatively new ? Let me tell you God was worshipped not hundreds of years ago but thousands ...so you have a hide suggesting that we are sooooo smart in this day & age that we can do without the creator !
I hope I am around when you face him & try to explain your self!

If a person cannot conceive of the possibility of a source of knowledge greater than their own pathetic selves, then no, that knowledge is out of their reach and unattainable until they develop humility of thought and mind. If arrogant human logic were the best that can be, we'd be in very deep trouble and without any justification for hope.

"Or (the unbelievers' state) are like the darkness of a fathomless sea which is covered by waves above which are waves above which are clouds, layers of darkness, one upon the other. If he puts out his hand, he can scarcely see it. Those God gives no light to, they have no light."

The Qur'an, 24:40

This is talkiing about the deep depths of the sea and its complete darkness. Its funny because mankind has only been able to travel this deep to realise its darkness within the past couple of years. Saw it on a program on tv couple days ago. Quran said this 1400 years ago. Looks like your so called contemporary logic still hasnt caught up yet.

Ps its spelt contemporary

Well, I certainly don't think that religion needs to use deductive logic as its used in mathematics and the sciences in order to be understood. That's fairly obvious, especially with so many alledged "geniuses" in science totally incapable of resisting the urge to take something as simple as faith and bastardizing it beyond all comprehension. I read once where a genius is one who takes something complex and makes it easy to understand, while a fool is one who does just the opposite. Gee. I wonder who in R&S resembles that.
