I've been learning Japanese for a year and I'm doing alright, it's just I can't always seem to remember things. What are some methods to remembering what you studied? For some reason, my friend and I both find things easier to remember while studying tired. Is their a possibility that studying while sleepy helps to remember? XD

Thank you!

Hello, I have been studying a Amharic now on my own with a CD Rom course and audio course. I have decided to learn the language from the ground up. I was never a good student in school and this I hard for me and frustrating because it's my wife's primary language. I want to know it all and became flustered and disappointed. That is where I was going wrong you have to tell yourself "It's a new language to you it is going to be hard." I believe studying before bed is best for me not b/c I am tired b/c the day is over and my consideration is best b/c my conscience is clear.

I find this surprising; generally one remembers information when the mind is alert. However, what you call "sleepy," may simply be a relaxed state of mind. You're not thinking of all the different daily problems and are instead focusing on language learning. It is always best to study with a friend, because you reinforce what you're learning and get immediate feedback for your questions. As far as remembering what you've learned, picture a cheerleader, a team member, or a member of a band or orchestra. They practice constantly. It's the same for language. Without practice and repetition, you will not remember what you're trying to learn. Most people don't realize that language is a PHYSICAL activity as well as an intellectual one. Therefore, you should speak aloud as much as possible and even write down the new material. The more senses that are engaged in ANY learning process, the more successful the learner will be.

Well the quickest method to study a language is to reside in a position in which it was once spoken. You could be very amazed at how speedy anyone can't handiest study a language, however grow to be fluent in it, if they're surrounded through that language and want it to outlive. Say you desired to study Japanese. First off, i could research Japanese for probably a month or 2, via web assets(the well ones), simply to get conversant in it just a little and study a few fundamental vocabulary. Then simply transfer to Japan for a yr or so. Meet a few peers over there who can talk English and are willingly to support educate you. Try writting the Word in your own language on one side of a piece of card , and writting it in Japanese on the otherside. Write out all the words your having trouble with. Then go through them with the English facing towards you. See if you can remember the word without looking at the back. If you remember the word put it in one pile, if you can't remember it put it in another pile. This really works.

You can use this method for any new language

Hope this Helps

If you go to sleep after studying, that may be what's helping. There have been a number of studies to suggest that going to sleep after studying material helps retain the material as opposed to moving on to another topic or another activity.
