The Metodist Church was founded by John Wesley (His brother, Charles is probably the greatest of all English hymn-writers.
John was an Anglican Vicar but was forbidden to preach in the open air, and found it difficult for some of his working-class converts to be accepted in the established Church.
His demonination grew rapidly, though he never initially intended to break away.
He had regular pattgerns for prayer and Bible study so his followers were nicknamed 'Metodists' and the name stuck.
Their dooctrine is Arminian (after Arminius). ie they teach salvation for whosoever will, rather than predestination.
Sorry for the rather long answer

The Methodist Church did not originate from the Puritans - they were originally part of the Church of England but left to set up their own denomination, being dissatisfied with the Church of England's sloppy and careless attitude towards dignified worship at the time.
These days, both Churches enjoy a good relationship and the two Churches have attempted reunion several times.

All church homes are notably plenty the same once you get precise all the way down to it. i'm Catholic, and that i like the Catholic church with the aid of background and its historical roots. that is totally different from a provider in a Methodist church, so while you're one in all those man or woman who can adventure the divine in paintings, music, ceremony and formality, that is in all probability an excellent selection. fairly some Protestants i comprehend discover this manner of subject to be extraneous. often, i like the older church homes extra. Catholic, Coptic and Orthodox traditions are all beautiful and steeped in secret. i've got been to Anglican/Episcopalian church homes formerly too, and a few of them are extra like Catholic church homes than not. in simple terms so which you comprehend - in case you formally decide for to develop into Catholic (or Coptic, or Orthodox, or Anglican) there is extra often than not a preparatory era in which you learn and learn (often with a clergyman) with regards to the religion formerly you formally are recieved into the Church. it particularly is often around a twelve months. besides, i'm hoping this helps! good success!

It's just another Protestant sect. If you attended a Methodist Service, you would not be able to tell if it were Methodist, Presbyterian, Baptist, Episcopalian etc, etc. The major difference is in whose collection basket it is.

The methodist church evolved from the puritans directly...there were congregational puritans and non congregational. One became methodist, the other presbyterian.
