First of all you should never give a dog any human medication not recommended by your vet, Tylenol is toxic to dogs and can cause major liver damage to your pet. Second the swelling could be from the heart worms or she may have a tumor in her abdomen her spleen could be enlarged or her liver. Its hard to know with out diagnostics being ran, I understand financial restraints and emergency rooms can be expensive but you owe it to her to at least not let her suffer i would take her in and have her humanly euthanized if you can not afford to treat her even if you had the money to odds are not in her favor that she could recover at her age.

That dog is seriously ill. From the looks of it, you should of put that poor dog down 2 years ago when you found out she had untreatable heartworm. The swolen belly might the case of the stomach turned over and twisted. That is a fatal illness, and if not treated, she could die a painful death right there. Or it might be CHF, congestive heart failure, if she hs heartworms. This is when fluid inside the chest puts pressure on the heart and may lead to hartattacks, and if that is the problem, she might just die right there. She is about to die, and you need to get her to a vet and put her down, now!!! I know it is hard but you need to do it for the sake of the dog. I am sorry, she lived a good life.

I hate to say this, but it sounds like CHF. Congestive Heart Failure. If she has heart worms, this is where the chest cavity fills up with fluid and it puts stress on the heart and usually causes heart attacks.
Check her gums and see if they are a very light pink. If they are it is a sign on lack of circulation. Also, lack of circulation could be the cause of her biting on her feet. She would be feeling the sensation of her feel falling asleep. The tingling sensation.
I know that putting her to sleep is a VERY HARD decision to make, but you must ask yourself, "What is the best for her?"
I had to put my show dog to sleep at 7 years old because of cancer and it was the hardest decision that I ever made. It took me a long time to accept it after I did it. But, I just couldn't stand to see her suffer and that was tearing my heart right out of me.
You have my deepest symphony. I am so sorry you have to go through this.

Don't let the dog suffer put her down. You can and will make friends with a new dog. Her swelling may be cancer or to do with the heart worms. Just because she's too old for surgery doesn't mean you have to let the poor animal suffer. That means you are thinking about yourself more than the dog.

If the heart isn't working effectively, the dog could be having a severe amount of edema. Or, at that age, it might be a cancer causing the edema. Lasix might help. But chances are, her life is coming to an end. Please do not give your dog tylenol. It is deadly to her liver. Use aspirin. Vets never use tylenol, they use aspirin.
