Yes, I suppose so, depending upon practical constraints like your social interactions, the law and your economic situation.

If you are ripping off people word gets around, breaking laws can get you fines or prison, and bad behaviour has economic consequences.
Being atheist also means accepting the responsibility for the results of your actions.
There is no God to offer forgiveness to you. That gift can only come from the people you have injured.
It is much more sobering to actually have to make ammends and ask for forgiveness from a real person instead of a fantasy friend.

Being an Atheist ONLY involves the fact that we don't believe in the existence of The Invisible Sky Critters.
No more and no less.

As for choices: we ALL chose what we do, except that the delusional among us say that they do the will of The Invisible Sky Critter which is amusing since it ALWAYS seems to agree with whatever they want to do.

Atheists on the other hand are much smarter - we KNOW why we do things - for exactly the same reason as everybody, Atheist or Theist, does anything; everything everybody EVER does is because they want some happy as a result.
KISS = Keep It simple, Stupid.

As well as that the Atheist doesn’t shirk responsibility; when we do WRONG or RIGHT we KNOW no one but ourselves were tempted to do so because of OUR own choices driven by our own desires.
All very Buddhist, isn’t it? :)

Like everyone else there are real world consequences for actions, morality is really about people trying to figure out what is best for themselves and society. It is usually a balancing act between the two. Atheists base this on reason and experience whereas religious people cling to dogma which in my view can at times no longer be useful or applicable in today's world. I think I am a moral person because I act out of enlightened self interest for myself and the world that I have to live and leave my children. If I am a rotten mean person I won't have good relationships, if I pollute the environment I have to live in the world too and my children and so on, if I cheat or lie or steal I can't expect others to refrain from these actions either. Morality is like a contract in society between people saying I will treat you well if you return the favor. When I see people who are hungry or suffering I want to help out of empathy and the hope someone would do the same for me or my loved ones. We all (or most people) want to live in a safe, clean, honest world. Besides from what I have seen religion is no guarantee of morality, religious people do as they want as well many times then blame Satan and ask for forgiveness and think its all okay.

Being an atheist means not only believing there is no higher life form than human (eg "God") , but that there is not even the slightest chance of there being a higher lifeform than human. Their belief is based on there being no "scientific" proof of a higher lifeform. I personally can't see the logic path of denying any possibility until "proven" incorrect, or the logic path of putting your "faith" in something that is almost proud of how many times it has been wrong(being proven wrong is a good thing as this shows science is advancing).

Being an Atheist means

Being a free thinker

I'm not sure where you get informed but I am a highly ethical person with strong morals that fit in with societies laws and ideals.

I have yet to meet a Christian with the same.

Hypocrites is more like.

Yes, but it also means not conforming to any specific religion. Some refer to it as being without faith. I refer to it as living my own life and not letting a book tell me how to live. I live life how I choose, which is to be good for a majority of the time. I do not need someone I have never met telling me what is right and what is wrong with my actions.

No, Atheists don't believe that there is a man living in a cloud. Any other meanings come from religions who are pissed of that Atheists exist. The poor cry babies don't really believe in that love one another stuff.

no atheist means the lack of belief in a god or gods

anything else is up to the individual

Of course when I help someone it's because I can't stand seeing someone in pain and not because I think it will get me brownie points with some big invisible sky daddy

None of the above. Being an atheist simply means not believing in any deities.
