I need to find exactly where in any church literature it says that Visiting Teachers should be in Sunday Dress (skirts) when they go out to do their Visiting Teaching. Prefer an exact reference to a Handbook or Talk by a Prophet that mentions this for a class I am teaching about V.T. . Please no church bashers!!!

It's Mormon culture not doctrine. The thought being that you should look nice when you're "on the Lords errand".

No place really. It is expected that best dress is worn, but certainly not required. It probably should be worn in most all cases. The Lord does not command in all things.
For example, a few times doing my home teaching I would just wear jeans and a t-shirt due to the situation. I thought the individuals would feel more comfortable if I was just dressed casually and I think it actually helped. That's all. Depends on the time and place. Some people may not agree with me, but it is just that; a personal decision.

I try to make the best impression, without making others uncomfortable. If I am seeing some one for the first time that might be dressier than for an old friend. If I am respresenting the Church or my job/profession, I would never look like a slob.

There is none. Sunday dress is the best. You can wear anything modestly. some visiting/home teaching is done by telephone. And some visting/home teaching is done on other days besides sunday. It's up to you and your companion on what days you want to visit.

I did not know that we are supposed to dress up to go visiting teaching. My visiting teachers and even in fact the home teachers do not dress up. I also do not dress up when i go visiting teaching and i know several others who do not.

Why do you assume that this is the case? If someone is telling you this is case, I would ask them why they think so, and seek guidance from the Spirit. Why do you _not_ want to wear sunday dress?

My sisters and that i continuously have been dressed extra appropriate on Sundays. There could have been circumstances we did not decide for to gown up even though it wasn't a call in my kin. suits for me even small, dresses for them. And while i glance back i'm so happy my mom went out of her way and cared sufficient to teach us God could be respected and given honor and meaning giving and searching our maximum suitable in spite of that is. And if it is the practice of this church and not against God stick to it with out complaining. And that lesson stayed with us i glance around right this moment not many little ones learn that lesson. And that is an significant one particularly some face that or not. I won't get into all the matters there. I hardly omit a Sunday. No, excuses. and that i handle all the place ever i'm with the very own appreciate (and that is composed of gown codes with out complaining) that replaced into taught me early on. No we don't choose human beings with the aid of what they positioned on yet i might think of we could bear in mind we our displaying how plenty we look after God in his provider. How respectful we are to those that take the lead. the person-friendly rule is to what this or that or everywhere comes to a decision gown could be suited to what they be sure and we are able and no count if that is not against God than why mumbler approximately it yet act seen. while in Rome the church has some regulations. "while in Rome do with the aid of fact the Romans do" as they are announcing. I shuttle often and in many places, some places could be bowled over to work out how some gown in worship. like it or not they look undesirable to others. no person replaced into ever positioned off that I positioned on a healthful and my spouse wore a gown. I even have not something against a intense high quality pantsuit myself for women human beings yet while frowned on someplace why insist that gown could healthful you? I even have positioned on robes and kilts and fairly some categories of clothing. If its not against God I see no reason they might't ask. Or that I shouldn't stick to. If i don't decide for to than i don't pass there yet i don't positioned others down for it. To me it is erroneous. i think of a few have made to plenty out of this. some certainly announcing that is how men or church homes attempt to regulate women human beings or in spite of. while that is not that for the duration of any respect. i don't understand if its in simple terms they don't think of properly or they only hate some for a reason.

Ours routinely wore pantsuits - this was not a sunday meeting, and exempt from the dress 'dress code'. Depends of you bish or SP.

One of them also arrived bra-less, and would have made calling that to her attention an indelicate and nearly impossible conversation starter.
