You are all missing the point of the question. There is no one I wat to kill, but I am asking, if we have no fear of death or punishment, why not commit whatever crimes we want?

Still you miss the point. What is your standard? What stops you from doing evil, and what is your standard that determines evil?

It is not the fear of reprisal that should disuade you from murder.

It is an inner voice that says that it is wrong to take life.

If you do not have this voice you may be a sociopath.

Then, in that case I will give you an "or else" that counts. We do not kill each other so that we may live in large communities with as much harmony as we do. We are all predators and could not live as close as herd animals without rules. The rule is basically "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." It is broken or fudged all the time in small ways.

Without the inhibition to kill, you would kill the neighbor with the prettier wife and take her, oh and don't forget the riding lawn mower. But wait, the guy across the street is looking at you funny. Will the lawn mower be his in a week. We do not kill because if we did no old lady would ever make it across the street, no cheating bastard with 12 items in his cart in the "10 items only" line would make it home, and family feud would have been a different show entirely.

It is not that we can't kill, but that we don't kill out of courtesy. And the hope that other people will show us the same courtesy.

IT IS AN UNEASY TRUCE AMONG PREDATORS THAT WE CHOOSE TO CALL CIVILIZATION, PEACE AND HARMONY.

I am highly civilized but have been known to get into knock down drag out fights over points of chivalry. We are not perfect. But murder is the worst transgression.

Interesting question. Personally, one of the main reasons why I would never kill someone if I was in your situation is because I know that the person who was bad most likely doesn't deserve to die. I know this might not make sense, considering the fact that there are so many bad people out today. But there's just the fact that the people who do bad do so because it was how they were raised and how they learned things. Usually something bad happened to them and they've never had someone love them and they're confused. Sorry to stray off topic, but what I mean to say is that even though one isn't afraid of anything bad that could happen to them, they need to think about the other person. Why are you gonna ruin someone's life and make them unhappy just because you don't care and don't fear anything. It's people that aren't afraid of jail or death that can forget to put themselves in the other person's shoes.

I believe I understand your question. Laws are put in place because there are people who would do such things if not for fear of punishment. Laws would not be needed once everyone carried " the spirit of the law" within themselves.I would not kill because I don't have to live trapped in myself as the most important person in the room. Some never get beyond that "it's all about me" attitude. But some of us truly carry within us the spirit of the law. We know that if we hurt or damage another we really hurt or damage ourselves. So, to answer your question, yes there sre many reasons not to kill someone & while there are those that do not need the fear to not do harm. there are those that very much need the law to keep them from such things.

If I did not 'fear God', there would be several less people in the world.
Because I am a Christian and fear God, I would no more kill someone
than run out in front of a truck and kill myself. We all have to stand in
judgement before God and give an account of our lives. He already
knows, but He wants us to tell the truth and we will be shown the story
of our lives. I do understand what you are asking. I hope that I have
answered it the way that explains the way I feel.

it doesn't matter whether YOU care about death or jail.....YOU have no right to take someones life. But this question could include several different scenarios. If your life is at stake, and it is either you or them, then I would say, kill them, but the way you worded this question has a tendency to come across to me as if you thought of just randomly killing someone because you have no care for consequences....Do you not know that there is right and wrong? Do you know the difference? I find it disturbing that you do not fear jail....have you ever been?

Start with yourself- then do your children. Oh wait this is R&S. There is the 2nd death. That is when your victim(s) and God have you as defendant, then judged righteously according to His law and sent to hell awaiting the time that death and hell are cast into the lake of fire for eternity.
Love is the most powerful force in the universe- get on the right side of God. His grace is better than His wrath.

Your right and this is why many people commit crimes. They have no fear of punishment. I guess this is maybe why some punishment should be on an individual basis.

Killing people is impolite. Most people have a sense of what works and what doesn't work in a society, and most people are more likely to help someone than hurt someone. Even animals don't usually kill unless they are carnivores and they are hungry, though this isn't universally true.

Jails are mostly for folks who weren't born with or didn't learn a sense of connectedness to others. It doesn't hurt them to hurt others.

I stop myself from doing evil because God has commanded us not to. I can't imagine the disappointment He feels when his children go astray and commit terrible crimes. It is also very difficult for our Savior Jesus Christ who suffered for each of our sins and all the pain we each feel in our life. By commiting murder you only add to the suffering of our Redeemer. I want Both my Heavenly Father and Christ to be happy and pleased with the choices I make.
