You can save on your insurance by compare quotes at http://CARQUOTING.NET/ijqyfPD473
RE No Insurance?
I have being taking mixed martial arts for a few weeks now with a local martial arts centre (own gym etc) but each time I ask about paying for insurance they just say they still have to sort the insurance out, would you still train there without.

Usually they are required to carry a minimum liability amount and some insurance carriers will not cover MMA type training. Not all policies and companies are the same. With most of these policies your health insurance picks up the tab first and then their insurance picks up the tab for anything that your insurance does not cover. So you don't buy an individual insurance policy with the studio per say. Talk to the owner-he will be in a position to give you the answers you are seeking. Some instructors that are there teaching probably don't know because they don't always get involved in the business end of it.
Most insurance companies require things like the rules to be posted, safety gear including mouth pieces, cups and supporters and head gear along with safety punch and kick be worn when sparring. They often times don't cover full contact type fighting. That usually requires an additional writer on the policy. The MMA-jiu-jutsu factor offers a whole nother type liability and so that's why some companies won't even cover it.
You can always ask to see a copy of their policy. Another thing is talk to the students and see if their are a lot of injuries that require hospital and doctor's visits. A good school and instructor will keep the injuries down or to a minimum so that fighters and students don't lose training time healing up. Other than the usual bruises and scraps that students somtimes get there should not be a lot of injuries.

Hi there
Personally i would still train but take out your own insurance. Search on line and I'm sure you will find a great deal. Clubs tend to block insure as its cheaper for the instructor who then puts the price up so the student has to pay more. Individual personal insurance should only cost you somewhere between £20 and £40 pounds. I trained somewhere once where the instructor was taking students money and not insuring them.
So be very careful with this one.

i think you have several options ,leave and find a more professionally run gym, other option is to contact the A.M.A.Amature Martial Association and pay for your own insurance policy, covering personal injury and third party. good luck.

Sounds dodgy you can get a quote on line in a instant, sounds like a money saving exercise, go with your gut and let your feet do the talking - go somewhere else if you can

Personally, I would. You're aware of the fact that they don't have insurance at present, so I guess if you think there's a chance that you would be hurt, you should wait.
