To pray to any Saint, for something so insignificant? Why would a person pray to Saint Anthony to help her find papers she lost? How immoral is this?

I am not referring to me. I am speaking of someone else.

saints are this to help out in heaven. they have been cannonized to help out with the prayers of people cos there are too many. havent u seen bruce almighty?

but i agree with u, to pray for something insignificant such as ur example, is taking things a little too far. how many people pray that at least one person wont suffer today? and yet often prayers can be selfish, asking for things like ur example. and supposedly all prayers are answered and yet the more there are then the longer it could take.

one contradiction for u. ok, if u pray then god is happy and will answer u but also in the bible it says god helps those who helps themselves. so what is the point of praying? cos praying is asking for help, is it not?

no i think saints are there for the very reason that god isnt and saints are a safeguard from this knowledge :( so to say, cos god hasnt answered a prayer then a saint may help....

ps, im an atheist

Saints are people chosen by God, to act as intermediaries, someone a person can turn to if they think the request is too 'insignificant' for God.

Of course, God does not think any prayer or request insignificant, which is why God created the saints in the first place. How can you pray to a saint and not 'thank' the God that created it?

As for being immoral, that is for the hearts and minds of the wicked to worry about.

Where did you get the idea that its immoral? Would you confess the sin of praying to Saint Anthony for something that someone else might consider trivial?

All prayers go to God. God is everything whether you pray to a tree, saint, sun, spirit, and etc. it doesn't really matter. Or even if you do not pray at all God still answers. You see, there is nothing else but God! There is even no right or wrong, moral or immoral, bad or good. There is only what works for you and what will serve your purpose. Everything else is our own interpretation and perception. How we perceive becomes our belief and what we believe is what we will experienced.

Maybe it isn't immoral for her, only for you. Maybe it's immoral to someone else for you to pray at all. If it helps this person find her papers, does it even really matter? Is it really worth nitpicking what someone else believes, and how they pray and to whom? Would you like it if someone else nitpicked how YOU pray, and to whom? And had highlighted some random passages in the Bible to somehow "prove" their interpretation and point of view?

Congratulations! You've discovered why there are so very many branches of Protestantism, and why more are being made every day.

I'm sorry but I only pray to God. I don't even know who saint Anthony is. I do however know who Jesus Christ is. And I personally think that it 's immoral to pray to anyone other than God himself.

Nothing immoral about praying for help??
If you were to fall down and break your legs, I guess you would behave immorally, if you called an ambulance for help?

Reading and praying to saints, who clearly discovered ethical and moral principles in their life on earth, is a way of finding answers, through deep thinking. It is not immoral. I hope you understand now?

I guess you would consider an old lady immoral if she asked you to help her cross the road.
What is immoral about asking for help?

first i should ask...why are you praying to a saint. i thought one should pray to God. if the papers were very importent, then why is it wrong. if it was just a paper with some guys phone number on it, then maybe you shouldn't pray for that. lol.

It is wrong to pray to a saint, you must either pray to God or to God through Jesus. However it is not wrong to pray to Gos for the 'small' things. The Bible states that he is concerned about the small and big things in our lives and all our cares. So he would love you to pray to him about these things. Good Luck finding the paper!!!
