It seems many christains accept with blind faith the teaching of ministers or those who chose how to put the bible together.Do you think it is important for a person to take responsibility for their salvation and to explore the basis of their religion. For me the more I explore christianity the less I believe in it.I do not deny there is a god I just believe there is no way for me to find the truth about who god is till I die.I have researched the bible and how it was formed in 300 ad and I have started reading the nag hammadi(gnostic beliefs)They are the oldest books of early christianity pre bible. The more I look the more danger I see in organized religion. What do you think.

i tried that and ultimately became atheist. but this does not mean it will happen to you.

i would not fear damnation in the search for god and logic. truth is god is who you want him/her to be and you will eventually come to a realization once you have accepted that whatever you truely believe is the right thing (for you) to believe

What about the Old testament written hundreds of years before Jesus was born which tells of a savior who will be born in the line of David, in the city of Bethlehem. A man who will suffer and die for the sins of mankind who will ransom humanity with his own blood?

If you do not trust the New Testament yet, read the Old and you will see how Jesus's mission was fortold centuries before he was born. He was carrying out a mission to save the human race so that we could know God personally and intimately. The more you read of the Old Testament you will see how the Gnostic gospels do not fit in with the mission that God had planned for Jesus the Messiah.

God bless you in your search for the Way the Truth and the Life! :)

There is wheat and there is chaff in the world. For one to throw out the wheat with the chaff is to do the work of the chaff, who, in being discarded, has no love or care for the valueable wheat.

If a minister lead you astray, pluck their teachings from your mind. "Their words are bold but their deeds are few. They bind up heavy loads, hard to carry, to lay on other men's shoulders, while they themselves will not lift a finger to budge them."

Pick what is ripe and leave the rest to the birds, so that all may be fed.

You are given the gift from God of free will. You can choose to believe in what and in whom you so choose. But danger in organized religion? heh heh!! You *really* think others who don't choose to believe the same as you are THAT stupid? People who believe in God but not religion go through years and years of seeking truth. In fact, if you REALLY had read the bible like you said, then you would have read the part about God saying dont trust what man says, about not preaching on the street corners like heathens and to go pray in your private place...God seems to reject "organized" religion Himself for the most part. The bible is open for interpretation of the reader. If someone wants to listen to someone elses interpretation of it without reading it, so be it. But not ALL of us do that. But you go and live your life the way you choose to. I'm not going to try and change your mind or judge you. We're all responsible for our own outcomes. Without meaning offense, God Bless you, sister. I hope you find your way.

I met Jesus a year and a half ago. That Jesus is actually alive changed me forever. I can actually read the bible and take it literally now, no limits!

Mat 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. You have received freely, freely give.

That's real! I have prayed for people and through faith in the name of Jesus I have seen healings. I am still scared to try the other 3 though...I'm getting there, we all can walk like Jesus did, that is why He sent us His Spirit!

No! Salvation is only attainable through what your concept of whom Jesus is!

And good majority of the world today have a belief in a deity.

But that is where religion comes in.

For religion is nothing but mankinds effort to reach a or their deity.

However, Christianity is God's effort to reach mankind.

This concept of Jesus, was somethign that Jesus himself was very concerned about, concerning his disciples, when he said to them in Matthew 16:13-14; When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

Its obvious that the worlds concept was incorrect, just as a majority of it is today.

So, Jesus takes it one step further in verse 15; He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

And in verse 16 Peter hits the spiritual nail on the head saying; Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

It is here in Jesus where Salvation is Attained!
