Do your past lives influence your present incarnation in a meaningful way?

Previous Lives influence the present Life through the influence of Karma and the powerful Karmic Energies generated by past intentions and actions.

I can guage what my Karma has generated in the past by my present circumstances and the way I think in relation to others. This is meaningful to me because it is these ways of thinking about others which gives me pause as to what I should do to improve those ways of thinking and so improving myself and therefore my Karma.

It is very meaningful to me...perhaps not so for others and this is understandable...others have different ways and Paths for self improvement and understand and Practise these methods within their Faiths. This gives comfort and strength in the same way and to me is therefore just as valid, just as real and just as meaningful as the understanding I have.

I don't know, I think so but I do know I have some inexplainable phobias that can only be explained with an experience due to a past0life...apparently past;lives do influence this life a great deal,espcially the negative events...I read a wonderful book about this last month, for example if sth really terrible happaned to you in a previous life at a certain age,your "cell memeory" would re-enact them in this life...for example if someone was kept in a cell which was damp & developed pnemonia from it etc at the age of 40, he might develop certain associated sypmtoms in this life also..even if someone was killed for example by an spear in the heart,he might bear a scar in that exact same spot by cell memery..(but this doesn't apply to karmic baalances being paid off, eg if the accident was a retribution being paid off, then there wouldn't be a scar)..
past-life healing by a good therpaist can make tremendous differences this way)..

I wish reincarnation would be scientifically proved in the near or distant future.
But in my opinion I doubt seriously that our past lives actions have affect on our present lives, because look around you and study facts.
Africa is a nation of millions of people a nation which has been categorised as the most bacward and its people are the most poor and suffer from diseases etc.
When History of Africa shows that not many African natives have emigrated to foreign land to loot or plunder, they had been converted to slaves by colonial superpowers,
What Crime had they done to receive such pain throughout the Ages and even Today?

i know that in my past life i was a farmer who lived a simple life in the forest. i know this because my heart aches whenever i think of the forest or see amish types on tv. it really pulls my heartstrings in this remarkable way. i get sad inside as if my soul is missing it's happiest point.
